Scrappy (14 yr old terrier) had a nasty accident on Sunday, he attempted to jump up into my Kia, misjudged it, and slid back, caught his hind leg in the towbar gap, flipped over and was hanging by his leg on a rotation

We heard screams that were blood curdling, husband ran around to car and found him upside down. Took him straight to the surgery and called out the vet who took Xrays, which revealed ruptured ligaments, a dislocation and broken metatarsal, he had more or less severed his leg. They put a catheter in his leg and let me take him home, as I am a vet nurse, I was allowed to administer vetergestic via his I-V over night, he then went back to the vets monday morning for surgery, which was very successful, and had screws placed and ligaments repaired, poor boy was very depressed and sent home on the wednesday and cheered up immediately, been on Methadone and synulox and tramadol. Anyway he's been doing really well and although hobbling is weight bearing to a certain degree. Thursday was a very good day, but today he seems miserable again, leg feels hot, and he's been given Antirobe aswell as Synulox, and a little inappetant. I really hope he just over did it a bit yesterday and not getting infected, so lots of HHOer healing vibes please XX

He's still depressed this morning, but managed some breakfast, I am thinking perhaps its the tramadol thats making him feel lethargic... last day tomorrow, so hopefully pick up then XX

:( poor boy, what a horrible accident.....lots of vibes for him.....tramadol can have some horrible side effects for us (personal experience!!) so he may be feeling unwell apart from the leg.....good luck im sure he will be ok soon
