My boy (stabled and rugged) has started to get little patches that look like rain scald. The hair pulls out in small tufts (about 10 - 20 hairs at a time), just around his rump area and only on the bits that are not clipped. Didn't seem to bother him and was only a couple of tufts at a time. This morning, however, he was itching his bum and I'm guessing this was the cause of the itch.
He's also starting to look a bit patchy, because there are now a few of these areas.
I was hoping to be able to wait until the weather warmed up just enough to be able to give him a bath, but I really want to get the problem sorted now if it is starting to cause him to itch.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what this may be, and is there anything I can try 'over the counter'? I'm also going to start adding some vegetable oil to his feed, just a bit, to combat any potential dry skin problems.
