My mare has scurfy back legs. It's the back legs only, from the coronet up to the hock, the odd little scab/sore but really scurfy. I washed her back legs this afternoon with a dilute hibiscrub solution, but then wasn't sure, so rinsed them well and dried them. Hair was coming off, but not leaving patches, as I washed and dried them.
They don't appear to be sore, she happily let me pick at them, and there's no heat etc, it's the fronts only, her heels and up the back of her legs are fine.
So has anyone any suggestions? Is the hibiscrub ok to wash with? What about creams/ointments?
Or shall I just do what I normally do and call the vet out?
