SE London competition yard, indoor menage, great turnout,...does it exist?

I'm doing Putney to Bookham...in rush hour, it's about 40 minutes each way on average. There aren't that many indoor schools on the A3 corridor but nice yards you could have a look at -

Southwood Manor
Seb Poirier
Wix Hill Livery
The Durdans
Pachesham
Owlbrook

Thank you so much.....I'd actually be coming from canary wharf in rush hour though so that would bring it closer to the 2 hour mark I think! I need to move jobs. Or house. Or both!

We kept our horse at Lee Valley equestrian centre in Leytonstone for a year or so. Standard of care was exceptional, as are the facilities (indoor, 2 outdoor and walker) but turnout was limited. A lot of the liveries compete and it's a supportive atmosphere. Livery yard is separate from the riding school which could be a bonus, it is quite expensive tho and the hacking is 'ok' for London (around the valley park).

Capricorn is a beautiful yard, loads of good turnout (not sure it's full day) and school is lovely but yes a walk down a hill, not so much steep tho would be more an issue if you ride in the dark after work. Recently changed management and I haven't heard good things but like all these things best to check out, as what is an issue for one person isn't for the next.

Louise Evans has a nice yard in Knatts Valley with big school, turnout and I think soon a walker. Also Preston farm is meant to be very good rarely heard a bad word. Speedgate is ran by the same people who run Preston farm so maybe look there too.

Good luck!

I would try Speedgate as the livery costs are fair, thye facilities are good and there's plenty of competitions.I know people there who really love it.I think it's not too far a commute if you go around the M20 where the end of the old road from london is,and head toward Brands Hatch. The road,i think is an A road and it's quick.

The arrow is another one which is very good and has an indoor and outdoor school but hard to get into I believe and has a waiting list but worth a look, oh it's in daranth just outside of dartford

Well I live in Battersea so was thinking of looking south west....do you do the journey during peak rush hour? How long does it take you? If I could get something perfect then I would actually make the journey. I'll check out that place in the mean time, thanks so much!

The place in the link is where i work and have my horse. If you would like more details pm me and i will be happy to answer any questions.

Just as an aside we are a 5 min walk from the train station which has trains to and from london bridge and Victoria which takes 35mins could be easier than your car..?

If you hold hard to an indoor school, you will really limit yourself in Surrey. If you are really focused on dressage then maybe look at Oldencraig? Weekly competitons inc affiliated dressage and clinics (..though remember that a yard running a lot of shows means liveries will possibly have issues with accessing the schools) I have never been a livery there but go to compete a lot. OEC has indoor and 2 outdoor schools. hacking apparently not brilliant but it is first and foremost a dressage yard.

Otherwise if you want a large floodlit school on the A3, another recommendation for Owlbrook in Ripely. Bev is very nice!

How about old mill equestrian centre in swanley.
I was there years ago when I lived in east london, they used to have nice stables, indoor, outdoor, plenty of grazing and decent hacking.
