My mare is a poor doer. She is 16.2 and around 18. She is fed top spec senior balancer, unmollased beet and micronised linseed. She is very scurfy, her mane and tail quite thin, has recently had a hoof abcsess and at times I have thought perhaps she has ulcers. She does have a nice shiny coat, and the farrier commented on how much her hooves ave improved despite the abcsess and she has gained weight and is currently a good weight.
So I was looking for something to help digest nutrients better, so aid with gut function and maybe give her a general pick me up to feed long term just to give her a boost.
Could any one help with which out the two may be better?

The topspec contains yeast already. Seaweed is more of a general purpose type supplement (though not very 'balanced') but all the vits/mins should be being supplied by the topspec anyway, and oversupplementation of some of those isn't recommended.

How much grazing and forage does she access? How much feed is she actually getting?

:)

You could try 'life force' from alltech (google Rutland horse extras) helps with gastric problems as well as ensuring horses absorb as much goodness as they can from their diet, my TB looks fantastic on it

I have my TB boys on both... Ones a 20 year old and the other a 6 yo. Coats gleam, hooves great and best of all they're not being eaten by flies. They are both out 24/7 at the most so have 1 feed per day with a small scoop of each + micronised linseed mixed into a bit of speedibeet and they both look fantastic.

She has 1kg dry weight of unmollased beet, the recommended balancer ration so 500g and 250g micronised linseed. Split into 2 feeds a day.She is currently out 24/7 in good weather, they come in at night if the forecast is poor. I put hay either in the stables or hay feeder for them to pick at if they want when they are out 24/7 aswell. Like I said she is a good weight at the moment just seems to be lacking something. The grazing is ok, it's not lush but not poor either if that makes sense. Once the haylage field has been cut and regrown the two of them will have 5 acres to rotate over, they currently have around 2acres.
