Opinions please...

I had some ariat winter gloves last year which were superb - very warm, fantastic grip, great fit... but they wore into holes in 3 months & I couldn't get them thru a whole winter even with sewing them up over & over again. Bearing in mind that I only ride one horse a day. I do ride in rubber reins but he isn't a hard puller.

Sooo sealskinz are on the £££££ side, but so were the ariats, & I don't mind paying the money if they're going to last the winter, & preferably the next couple too...

Or if we don't like sealskinz, is there anything similar that we DO like....

Love them, have done one winter & heading into 2nd. I try not to be too tough on them and wear cheap fleece ones some of the time to preserve them. But, I would say they are the best, warmiest waterproof -but still breathable- gloves I have ever had.

I ride in mine but not entirely sure I would school/jump that much in them as a little too thick. Utterly perfect for cold winter hacks & general cold outdoorness!!

QR I dislike the sealskinz (riding ones) as they are too thick for me, had a pair for xmas a couple of years ago and have worn them about 5 times. I love the roekls that are fleece lined for riding and yard work, they arent waterproof but withstand rain.

Mine lasted one winter before the seams went in the thumb and fore finger. I did wear them everyday, all day as I work as a groom.

I had some for xmas, wore them once and couldnt get on with them at all, too thick and cumbersome, kept making excuses why i couldnt wear them!! Did feel bad for my oh but hey ho he'll live

I've got the standard waterproof ones as I didn't like the thickness of the high viz stripes on the winter ones (thinking of hunting use).

I love mine. They're still really warm, even though they are not technically the winter version.

H'mm, I do seem to remember trying some on a while ago & finding them too cumbersome. Sounds like fleece lined roekls might be the way to go, unless there are any other ideas?

It's a real shame about the ariats cos I loved them, but I can't afford a new pair every month! I thought to start with that I must have caught them on a rug fastening or something, but it was just the material wearing through.

I hack v little in winter cos I have to go on the road, so I have to stay in my school.

Love sealskinz for warmth etc, but they are bulky. Best winter gloves I have found are the mark todd leather ones lined with thinsulate! Fab gloves

I love them but found after a couple of weeks I started wearing holes in the fingers, although I was using them for work and if had just been riding in them I dare say they'd have lasted much longer.

I've got WoofWear Trailer rider gloves which are totally waterproof and toasty warm - would quite happily break the ice on the water troughs and fish out the shards whilst wearing them and my hands would stay dry and warm. Although fine to ride out in I wouldn't school in them as a wee bit buky

I love mine too, had them about 4 years now and wear them an awful lot for both yard duties and riding, although are a little thick for serious schooling, but then its not easy with freezing arthritic hands either!!

Yes they do!!

I've got a pair and although I dont ride in them (too thick), they are great for getting ice out of water troughs, dunking haynets, picking out muddy feet etc. I cannot survive winter without them
