Hello

I'm just wondering what the fence height it for the SFAS working hunter classes and whether the class is split into Light Weight & Heavy Weight or they just have one single WH class?!

Thanks

Jess xx

I watched one at Badgworth 2 years ago and the course was 1.05 but relatively simple and straightforward. It wasn't split into weights, and had about 15 entries I think, pretty much all of whom jumped lovely clears! There was also a Riding Club Show Horse class, which was very popular, and had 2 SJ fences of 2'9. I'd love to have a go too - best of luck to you! Have a look on their website too, there are some good photos of previous qualifiers which give you a good idea of the courses.

Not sure of the exact height but it isn't very big and is much less than county workers heights. Id say not much more than 3ft in the ones ive seen and the riding club horse fences are even tinier!

They run it as one class with all weights together :)

Thank you for the replies!!!

Hmm thinking of giving it ago although my boy is a pure bred arab and I was hoping the weights would be split hahaha!!! No problemo

Just have ago for the fun of it I'm thinking I know judges will despise him but we wont be hurting any one haha :p

Not meaning to be rude but as a pure bred arab your horse would be in the wrong class being in working hunters.

I am presuming you turn out to type with long mane etc?

Why dont you try the riding club show horse instead which is for any type suitable for riding club activities, which would be more suitable as its not breed or type specific.

Please can you explain to me why an Arab shouldn't be entered in a WH class? It's perfectly possible to plait up an Arab. They jump, have boundless stamina & are tough as old boots. What more could you wish for in a WH? Not all are big enough to carry a big person, but the larger ones (~16hh) will.

Beatnik - its simply just not the correct type for the class. Its not the fact that the horse can hunt it needs to be true to type aswell. Any horse can hunt but only a few are true to the "showing type" of working hunter.

this is Louise Bell and her HOYS worker, this is the "type" that the judge will be looking for in a showing class.

Im not saying a Arab cannot hunt or be suitable to be taken hunting but it is not in showing terms a working hunter.

I hope you know what I mean I find it hard to explain myself in writing!
