Thank you for all your replies on my cocker spaniel post. I know they are fantastic dogs as I know a few!! The main things that popped up were they are high energy and quite needy. I know they aren't all like that but it would seem the majority are and I wasn't sure they were the right dogs for us with our lifestyle etc. In the meantime we have been offered an 11 month old black lab bitch, part trained gundog. The chap hasn't got time for her. We know him well, he treats his dogs fantastically well. He breeds a few and also enters them in trials which he has won quite a few high end ones!! I'm guessing between the lines she is not quite up to his standard but she is mainly going to be a pet and if she does take to shooting then she can do that too in a year or so!! We are going to see her Tomorrow morning and we are taking our current dog to meet her to make sure she approves!! Keep your fingers crossed!! Now just need to Rob a bank!!

Thank you. We lost our gorgeous black lab a month or so ago. She was probably the most perfect dog, sweet, kind, always tried to please. We muss her so much as does our fox red. I list my jrt 3 years ago and that is still painful but the strange thing us the dog we are seeing tomorrow has the same name as my jrt. ( will have to change it). Also this dog was supposed to be sold to someone else who let the chap down so now we have first refusal. I'm thinking it's fate!

I’d be gutted. I didn’t want ours, it was way too soon, but when the OH asked if he should go and get them, I told him yes. I’d have been devastated if he’d said no.
