And its hard!
How do you know who to trust?
Do people do trials 2-4 weeks?
All that I find suitable are gazillions of miles away!
I want a new pone to have fun on this Sumner...
Boo hoo
Rant over

I got a horse from a reputable lady....turns out this horse was nothinglike how it was sold to me. I had asked for a trial but she said no as the horse was easily sellable and not yet advertised - I believed her!!!! Lots of what ifs go through my mind, but the horse is in a happier home now and that's the main thing :)!
I agree...all the ones I wanted to see were miles away!!!!!

I know what you mean KK, as i'm looking for a new one too at the min.
Everything I like is either very expensive, old, unbroken or 200 miles away! :(

I'm hoping for some divine intervention on this one! Good luck with your search :)

KK I have helped my friend look for months for a new horse, problem was she was looking to buy someone's best friend and they don't come up for sale too often. Her biggest gripe was calling about horses to find out the seller was a dealer but advert said private and the seller was not the owner but selling on their behalf...

My tips would be 1) google the phone number and see if they are genuinely a private seller, if that is what you are thinking you are buying and 2) start the conversation with "I'm calling about the horse you have for sale..." when they said which one my friend used to end the conversation.

She called a few dealers but digging revealed issues with most of the ones who had horses she was genuinely interested in. We found her new boy on the local facebook groups he was only an hour away.

Good luck :)

KK What are you looking for? Selling a horse as a proper private seller isn't easy either ... people mess you about, take up masses of precious time and then tell you you've been 'too truthful' ...
I'd be interested in others' views on trial too please.

I got my boy on trial for a week before I bought him, from a "dealer" (Toni Molineux), so far very happy with him! Vet suggested asking for trial period (I hadn't planned on, as when I'd asked the woman I mention in the post below for a trial, she said no). Toni said yes, no problem whatsoever.

If you are in the Yorkshire area, PM me and I will give you the name of someone not to touch with a bargepole. I've just sent her a letter telling her to pay me back my £200 deposit that she's had for over 6 weeks since she said she'd pay it back, or I will take her to a small claims court. Horse failed the vetting (came up hopping lame in the trot up) and she said she'd pay me back.

Where abouts in Lincolnshire are you and what are you looking for I have one for sale and would consider a trial if you were not too far away.
