A few weeks back my "darling" ID Spooked and tanked in the arena and I hit the deck with an allmighty clatter. Air jacket was on yet I still ended in A&E and unable to walk for a week.
Fast forward to this week, monster face has been out at grass and having a lovely "holiday" while I recover. Still being quite sore, but knowing that he must be ridden for both mine and his sake Ive been doing some real intensive walk work ( dont laugh!
as any interesting and complicated maneuvers, transitions, softness, halting etc as one can manage in walk).
Today he was as high as a kite, but hey we are only walking! Que bird to fly out of the bush, and WHAM - history began to repeat itself. Down to every last move.
The shoulder dip to the left, the giant leap to the right, the tanking of bouncing down the arena as I do all in my might to a)stop him, b)stay on, c) hope it wont hurt so bad this time when i meet the floor.
Then it dawned on me, I was stuck. Stuck on the saddle. I sat deep, pulled him up and out of the "manic moment" and he stopped.

I feel so happy, in the past a horse spooking had never gotten me off, but his are something else! However his spooks are nonsense, and it was annoying me that he was getting me off, so maybe learning it as a way to do so. Where as now... he didn't
Anyway...
I sung myself a wee song on the way home while I was beaming about "sticking"
( to the tune of time warp
)
It's astounding, summer is nearing
Madness takes its toll
Hes schooling nicely, not for very much longer
I've got to keep control
It's a shoulder ditch to the left
And then a spook to the right
With your hands in his mane
Sit deep and hold on tight
But it's the broncing bounces, that really drives me insane,
Hes gonna ditch me again!

Acavallo gel out seat saver, highly recommended!
( i have nothing to do with the company
just pics make threads more interesting
)
