Seatbone saving underwear?

Possibly TMI but I get very sore seatbones - worse on long hacks or hard saddles and I have been debating a gel seat saver but not 100% sold, I would go gel-in but I still think it looks a bit bulky and unsightly - I currently have a sheepskin seat saver that has been banished after it slipped and did me no favours when the horse I was riding went full rodeo (also it's a pain in the ass - no pun intended! to change on to every saddle of every horse I ride!)

So talk to me about padded underwear (for women) they seem quite expensive but I would love to go on a fun ride and enjoy it! Do you use the equestrian brands? I've noticed cycling brands are cheaper but they look a bit.. odd? Or there the general bum-enhancer ones which may be a bit much lol! Recommendations appreciated :D

The only padded garments I've seen are cycling shorts, though I have a pair of whitaker training jods they are like cycling material lovely and cool for summer hacks but they have a padded inner seat/thigh area which is suede like on outside and like towling on inside these are really comfy I think there meant for showjumping but I got them for my spooky / jumpy baby horses as was fed up of bottom been slammed into saddle and like you found seat saver can slip a little though I also have an aerborn memory foam fleece covered one which is good if I am riding someone elses horses who doesn't have a good saddle luckily ive quite a comfy jump saddle

My saddle was comfortable until I put an Acavello Gel Out on it, then it was bliss. I took it off to dry as we'd been out in torrential rain and forgot to put it back on, I was sliding about a fair bit and will reinstate the seatsaver for our next ride. I feel a whole lot more secure with it on the saddle than without.

I second the Acavello Gel Out. I love mine and certainly makes me feel more secure when his jeckle mood is out!

Got a pair of cycling shorts from Lidls when they were having a "special"; just the job and fit the bill nicely, a good cheap fix.

Have tried a Heather Moffatt seat-saver. Hated it. The damn thing moved around like a flea in a fair and I found it very uncomfortable on the "lady bits" to boot :(

Have also got a sheepskin seat-saver tucked away (somewhere!) in the tack room. That was a lot better, I use it mainly in winter though.

I also bought a pair of cycling shorts, but mine were from Aldi. They went straight back as the padded bit was enormous, it was thick and immovable and TBH they felt like I'd pooped myself. No hack is long enough that I'd ever need that much bum padding.

I've got a pair of the "derriere" pants. The padding is not obvious, I've worn mine under white competition breeches and they are very comfortable but quite expensive at £35 approx. They are also very good at protecting other bits that get chafed!!!!

Yet another vote for the Acavallo seat saver!

But if I'm going to be spending a while in the saddle (long hack or hunting) I also wear the Berlei padded riding pants. I bought the Berlei horse riding bra from Olympia over a year ago and decided to get the matching pants. They are really good! I've heard that the Derriere pants are good too but the Berlei are a little cheaper I think (although still a bit pricey for a pair of knickers!)

Not used them, but Ive also heard nothing but good things from friends that have used Derriere Equestrian! They would probably take a bit of getting used to though!
