Im looking into buying a Section D, not really well up on the breeding but have been doing some research..

Just wondering if you could throw me some names to what would be good if the horse had it in its lines (if that makes sense! lol)

Sorry that might help lol just traditional sec d showing classes, inhand to start if it were a youngster and then eventually ridden.

you can never go wrong with Trevallion bloodlines to do both jobs. Derwen and Nebo are the most common lines. Maesmynach are generally around 15.2+ and normally more horsey which I don't personally like but each to their own. Horeb also usually throughs some good stock aswell as Fronarth. A name thats not so well known is Cavyl Stud but I know 3 people who have brought directly from him. The D colt has won PUK,won 3 counties,3rd at the Winter fair, placed royal welsh and went through to the Cuddy qualifiers twice and he's only 2. The D stallion has won loads inhand with plenty of championships undersaddle and was 2nd at the royal welsh last year and the yearling filly was placed at the Winter fair last year. I know he's got some crackers still available at the minute so it may be worth giving him a go

Most 'welshy lovers' have their own preferences....one man's meat is another man poison so they say.

My own preferences include Menai, Derwen, Nebo.

But there are many lovely horses coming out of lesser known studs.

It might be an idea for you to go to some welsh shows, see which type of animal you like (and which the judges like ;) ) that way you can see which prefixes may be for you.

Good luck in your search, you'll be spoilt for choice .....have fun :D

Having a Nebo/Ebbw Victor/Derwen part bred, if this combination has led to the fantastic horse I have, then I can't rate them highly enough!!! But as said above, what one person likes another may not!!

Having seen two fantastic stallions yesterday at a show being ridden and shown in-hand I have to say that Brynithon or Horeb bloodlines would be my pick. I personally like Maesmynach breeding but they don't tend to show too well in comparison with other more traditionally 'cob' looking animals. I also like Menai, they do well in-hand and under saddle.

You must of been at Ffoslas. We were there too!! the 2yr D colt that I mentioned was 2nd there lol. I love Brynithion Northern Wind inhand too but i'm not overly keen on what he throws. One of his sons was last in the open ridden class.

Yep you're right I was there :D I just love Northern Wind- you can recognise him from a mile off. I didn't see the D colt classes- only went to watch the As and came back then. I didn't see his son in the class- only glanced at it though from the A ring.
