Just out of interest, how much would a welsh sec filly foal or yearling cost approx.
registered and reasonably breed.
Anyone know please.

I bought mine at 10 months unhandled with good bloodlines for £450 (2 and a half years ago!) think she was a total bargain but they seem to be a lot cheaper in wales if they are bred around here (hants) you would look to pay more like £800! A friend of mine is just about to buy a weanling colt from North Wales for £600 hope that helps a bit?

Thanks, as I lost my much loved mare recently am just looking in to possibilites really.
have had youngsters before and love sec ds so maybe will think about it.

Mine has been a dream, she's a bolshy madam but is such a star i have just backed her and it has been like she has been doing it all her life! Really sorry to hear you lost your mare its heart breaking.

I hope you find something that at least comes close to your girly good luck!

I know of a two year old that i think is still for sale that we bred, unfortunately the lady who owns her has to sell her. She is black with a white star, very very pretty, extreemly well bred and very well handled. There are pics of her on our website www.kennifordstud.co.uk she is call Kenniford Midnight Delight born 2007 and her mum is also on website along with pic of her dad Gellifach Llewellyn. Her mum is Dyffryntwyi Elle Ap Dafydd. PM me if you would like contact details.

Sec d's I lovely BUT I wouldn't recommend you buy a young one if you haven't had much experience with them as a breed. They CAN BE and are most often very different from a lot of other breeds.

Example I have always had welshies and or wc x recently got a new 4 year old and altho he doesn't have ANY issues he is still proving to be quiet a challenge to say the least, little sod!!

As for price anything from £400 to £4000 depending on where and breeding. average I wouldn't spend more than £800 to £1000 unless it was out of a recent top winner

Good luck

I have had a lot of experience of sec ds I know they are not for everyone and can be a handfull.
Thanks for advice

Don't do what I did: went along to a stud to look at the stock in the hope of buying a weanling the following year.

And came back having agreed to buy a lovely 2yr old filly they had for sale!!!

I've had her for 2yrs now, and though she was a handful to start with she's now great to handle and tries her best to please, she's such a lovely girlie!

they can be expensivei got a yearling colt last year they are a handful and need a lot of handling otherwise they become strong etc but then most horses are like this anyways
