I clipped Ethel last year, it was her first time being done and my first time doing a clip. I wont lie, it was pretty awful! Here is that clip ...

This year I decided to do a full clip and wanted some CC on it :) I know the saddle patches are a bit odd and one side looks like I've missed a bit off the back of it but it's actually a black line that she has. I think the front legs could be at more of an angle too, the lines look a bit flat. Here is this year's, done today ..

Im also after some advice .. How much do you take off round by their teats? This is an area I seem to struggle with a bit as it doesnt look right whatever way I do it! Also the insides of the front legs I find a bit tricky, so tips on getting them right would be helpful :)

Im really proud of her, only her second time being clipped and she was good as gold! She got frightened when I they were first turned on but the silly moo did reach round and far as she could and touched them with her nose  She soon got over it though and stood watching the world go by with her head over her stable door. The only bit we had real issues with was up by her ears which is understandable and im hoping to borrow some trimmers tomorrow and fingers crossed she'll let me neaten her up :)

Not a lot wrong with that for a second attempt! Not a lot wrong with your first attempt either; my horse currently looks as though he's been chewed :D

Front legs - get someone to pull them forward while you clip. Teats - no idea, my gelding's staying hairy all around that area because I don't want to die ;)

Thanks :D I didn't have anyone around to help me today so had to manage with holding the leg forward and clipping all on my own, which was tricky! Next time I'll try and rope someone in to give me a hand :)

Thank you :) Maybe it just because I'm a perfectionist and pick holes in everything I do that it looks worse to me than it actually is!

normally around the teats i just do it so people cant see it so when they are stood square and there stifle comes down i normally just do a line just past there. depends how good they are around them, i have also just run the clippers up that way to get rid of any long bits so its not noticable to any body stood at the side, the only way you would know that i havent clipped up there is if you actually bend down and look. clip loots good though for second attempt, as for line if you get any if you clip normally then run the clippers at about 2 o'clock normally gets rid of them,

She was very good with around her teats so I just took off everything I could but it looks patchy where I couldnt reach it properly so I'll do that next time :) thanks

Get someone to old the front legs forwards for you and do the inside of the back legs from the opposite side of the leg you want to clip :)

Means your out of the road should they get a tickle ;) Teats I do as much as possible with the clippers then take the rest back with scissors (S is a bit particular about her lady bits :o)

Thanks guys :) I shall have to find someone who can hold her front legs forward for me next time. That won't be til next year though, that first clip was done ib November and didn't grow out til may!!
