I'm just wondering if there is a market for second hand air jackets as I never see them for sale second hand

I bought one approx 5 years ago, a Hit Air, which has never fitted correctly despite having it fitted at a trade stand, it is far too big. Other than that it is in great working condition and has been well looked after.

If there is a market, what price approx would you advertise it for?
 
I bought mine second hand from a friend, never really used it, and sold it again on marketplace. Dunno about Hitair but Point Two do a trade in thing, which is why a lot of them don’t come up for sale. Think I got about £200 for mine.
 
I bought mine s/h (HitAir)-it was a complete bargain at £100 with a spare canister-it did need a new lanyard but as I ride a pony, I would have had to get one anyway. Its in very good used condition, its a hi viz one and some of the yellow is a tiny bit grubby.

When I was looking there were various on the market s/h from £100-£200
 
I don't have one and really no idea about the market, but if you do sell be very careful sending it. I've heard several horror stories of air jackets being destroyed by royal mail if they have the cannister left in!
 
I’ve sold mine easily. Can’t remember whether it was his eBay or preloved. Can’t post the canister though.

Moral of this is to remove the canister before sending it!

We sold my large nearly new Hit air vest on eBay as a buy it now item. I’d lost shed loads of weight and it was too big. Got just over £200 as listed with a canister, then we discovered that canisters are prohibited items for delivery, so we offered to knock £25 off the price to send it to Cornwall without a canister. Buyer happily agreed.

I’ve got a new medium size Hit Air vest, so the spare canister is still useful here.

Definitely a market - I've sold 3 outgrown children's ones at local tack sales. Helite and Point 2 offer a service option so buyers simply send them off to be serviced after purchase. I don't think hit air do the same? Happy to be corrected. But unless you chnage size (pr buy the wrong size) adult ones are not replaced as often as an BP or hat - so perhaps don;t come up as much?

Shavings - fit for these is really important and the only way to know which make / what size is to have one blown on you. Perhaps go to a major horse show and at least get fitted, even if you then buy second hand. There is no point in having safety wear that can't do its job because it doesn't fit right!

Living on the isle of man does make going to trade stands to try them on a little hard, but i am in no rush for one i want to find the right one as like my head it wouldn't surprise me if i am a odd shape for one :rolleyes:
 
I bought mine second hand. Point 2 offer servicing so I sent mine in to get it checked out so I knew it worked/was safe, think it was about £60

Just make sure you remove the canister before sending it in the post!
 
Point 2 go by height, however my local shop advised next size up as would need to wear over layers in winter
 
Point two vests should really be serviced annually , mine is sent away every winter to make sure everything is working as it should . If buying second hand it would be worth asking if it's been serviced , you may buy second hand and end up with something that won't go off when you need it to. When mine is sent for service they replace the air bag , inspect the trigger and give it a good clean .
Don't know if the same applies to other brands
