Second hand rubber matting

Has anyone ever bought second hand rubber matting? The really heavy, solid rubber stuff? Would you recommend second hand?

I can only find brand new stuff on ebay, and I need to buy about 15 mats, and can't afford new ones!

Does it clean up really well and is it ok to use virkon/any other chemical on it to clean it?

personally i wouldn't buy second hand matting, i used to have it before i moved yards, it is good.but when i moved it just would not lay as good as it did in my old stable, needless to say my dogs now love it in their kennels. havn't got round to buying any new mats yet.
 
Friend of mine was lucky and got some, it was hardly used and laid down really well. But mine is old and curling up at the edges, so it would be awful to lay unless you cut all the edges off perhaps! Plus it stinks underneath. So you might get lucky and find some hardly used but might take a while.
 
We bought some secondhand Equimats a few years ago. They were like new and we got them for a song. Just make sure you scrub and disinfect them before you put them down, even if they appear clean "just in case". Why pay full price if you don't need to!
 
Yes would deff' buy secondhand if it was in good nick but you would be lucky to find it. Just don't pay more than the going rate for new and remember to take into acount delivery/collection time/cost
 
i bought 20 1m by 1m wikstead mat's from ebay for £80 they will never curl at the end's they're the really thick playground mats and are suprisingly squishy under mildred's feet! I'd say they are miles better than these flimsy ones you see!
 
We bought about 60 mats at £6 each at a farm sale - they were cow parlour mats - but exactly the same as the Equimats we have. They don't interlock, but we have never had a problem with them moving.
 
Have relayed good quality mats several times, if they are cleaned well good yard brush, lots of soapy water or even better a presure hose they come up as good as new and they are 5yrs old. Never had a problem putting them back down either.
 
I got some old rubber matting from the stables where I work to put in my trailer and it's fine. It cut perfectly and hasn't curled up. The only thing is, that no matter how often I've disinfected it, I can't get rid of the smell of urine but I can put up with that since I got it for nothing!
