Today at 7am a palomino pony was found in her stable in Chesterton, Staffs with a single stab wound to her abdomen. Last year, at the same yard, another horse fell fowl to a fatel stabbing attack..

Some sick people about.

That is awful, I just hope they catch who is doing this, doubt they will though. How can people do that to a defenceless animal??

In the stable? If this has happened before I would hope that the livery add greater security after this second attack. Cameras, dogs that would bark, motion detector flood lights all come to mind. Does the owner of the livery live on premesis?

How tragic and I HOPE they find who has done this! What on earth would the motive be???

was not the same owner of the last was it?

their sick in the head these sort of people, bloody cowardly crime, poor pony wont have tried to defend itself and then bled to death! punishment shld b made to fit the crime, if they catch the pigs hang em upside down and bleed em dry

That yard is pretty close to where I live, in the grand scheme of things. Not above a ten minute drive I'd say.

The stables are right on the road side and pretty easy to spot from the road by thugs. Not that far from a rough area of town and plenty of pubs.

So tragic. If I was a livery there, and hadn't moved after the last incident, I'd certainly be moving now.

This is one thing that always made me happy to take my horse from the UK. Despite all the worries and streses, the issue of horse attacks always worried me.

Here, animal attacks are virtually unheard of mostly because the punishment for any animal neglect and abuse is EXTREMELY hard :*(

When i was in the UK, i was offered livery with a friend who had her own place but wouldnt move precisely because she didnt live on site. Theres no way id be comfortable leaving my horse anywhere with no one on site and with some decent security

That poor poor owner :*(

Was anyone caught for the first attack?
There were a cases of foal mutilation around here a few years ago and it turned out to be the son of the farm manager who lived on the premises - they were privately owned horses, but the owners weren't on site.

Things like this terrify me, most horse are at risk from this sort of attack & there is little you can do to prevent it at a lot of small yards or privatley owned stables or rented fields.
It is so tragic & the owner must be so devastated.
Even though the gates are locked onto our yard there is no stopping someone wondering over the field into the barn where the horses are.
