Im having to take on a second job, mainly due to the credit crunch.
Im on DIY livery and the YO won't let us part loan our horses out any more (dont ask me why!! Something to do with Insurance) so Im going to have to ask friends to look after my horse, which Im sure they will do, and it's only a temporary measure (3 months), but Im already worried my horse will feel rejected. Am I just being ridiculous?

No your not! i feel the same, am taking on a saturday job in addition to my full-time 9-5 job and i feel awful too!
But unfortunately its the only way i will be able to keep my loan horse until the end our contract and then buy my own.
This credit crunch really sucks!

I work weekends on a yard as well as working quite long hours in the week (8.30-6). I know how you feel! My horses don't miss out though - I'm just knackered!

I was only supposed to be doing it for a few weeks while we finished off renovating our house - 4 months later we're still renovating! Anyway - I quite like my weekend job, so I'll probably keep it so I've got some extra cash when the house is done

What has it got to do with the yard owner if you have someone sharing your horse with you, you could have bought the horse 50/50 with a friend for all she knows, so long as her bills are paid and everything is right and the rider is insured to ride the horse then what business is it of hers.

Aargh tell me about it!
We used to be allowed to have sharers but they had to pay the facility charge (we pay £10 a week for all weather gallops, massive outdoor and xc course) ON TOP of the facility charge that we pay already! Which was silly because neither of us were riding on the same day. (I used to have a sharer for my old horse). Now apparently no one is allowed a sharer apart from those who already had it as no one was adhering to the insurance policy or coughing up the facility charge (Im not surprised!) so I can't be bothered with the hassle. Also Im moving off that yard later this year which Im gutted about but it has to be done as Im moving house, so no point in getting a sharer only to dump them later this year.

I already have a 2nd job in a local pub on top of my main job..... and to keep my livery costs down I do jobs for my YM which I guess could be classed as the 3rd job!

blimey RV your YO sounds a little unreasonable!

BO**OCKS! Its to do with sniding more money off already paying customers and damn awkwardness. I know that yard and I'm not surprised. I thought you were moving anyway.

I am moving off but not for a while yet, a lot to take into consideration first... like whether I get into Uni to do my PGCE, which I wont know for a couple of months yet. If I dont I wont be moving til end of the year and Im in no rush... YO is very unreasonable but Im happy there, most of the time! Got a lot of friends and support on that yard.
Ive got an interview for a second job in a posh restaurant so wish me luck lol.... I know Im not the only one, just still think Im being a tw8t worrying about whether my horse will survive without me...
