Second puppy question... Whats the best stuff for cleaning puppy poop and wee up, so they dont do it again in the same spot???

Edited to add a third question!!

We would like the dog eventually to wear a harness as oppose to a collar. Is it best to put one on the puppy straight away, or get it used to a collar first and then change when its older???

Many thankies

A solution of biological washing powder will remove the stain and the enzymes in it will destroy traces of lingering scent.

Bleach and disinfectant can act as a marker for the dog to pee their again.

I would get a collar initially so dog can wear it round the house but maybe use a harness to walk, you will go through many sizes of harness though!

Our dog hates her harness but we didn't try till she was over 2. I think the sooner you introduce it the more accepting he will be.
Love the name Alfie, really suits him!

because my pups are sooo small they wear a cat collar around the house (for the bell so they dont get stood on or locked in a room) and a harness for going on walks.
some pet shops do sell stuff for cleaning accidents up and get rid of the odour to.

Fantastic name Mrs_S, i think it really suits him!!

I think when Lucy was small we just used whatever was to hand, i.e carpet cleaner/stain remover to clean up little accidents although thankfully with good timing and lots of trips to the garden she very rarely had an accident. We were very lucky with her!

Lucy was started off just in a collar, it was only when she started to get stronger and more muscled up, that we graduated to a harness. I have found with the boxers i've owned that the harness is always a good piece of kit to have! Lucy now walks sensibly and doesn't end up a) trying to pull me in the floor in search of a rabbit and b) doesn't cough, choke and splutter because shes pulling too much!!

washing powder is fab - avoid anything with amonia as thats what lets the smells linger and makes it attractive

re - collars and harness, get them used to it as soon as you can, makes it much easier!

ps - ALfie is a very cute name!
