Dressage was OK, with a good first test and then a fairly pants second test because I forgot what I was doing three times ?. I don't know what it is about novice 37 but I just have a mental block on it. Hey ho, still have a couple of useful bits to work on. Rubbishy stills from video:

Then a bit of festive fun with Pebbles. She was fab and it was a really good laugh. Plus there was mulled wine and mice pies so can't complain!

we did end up going out with the bloodhounds, and although standing still and getting going were far too exciting and led to some interesting moves, he was much better than expected! Will definitely be taking him out again when I can!

no jumping pics today sadly, but as you can see, he was having a whale of a time!

I’m really pleased after our first polework clinic after several months break.
T can sometimes get a bit over reactive in group situations, so luckily for us 2 people had dropped out leaving just 2 people in our session.
T went really nicely all the way through, he was soft and rideable (we’ve been working on contact and suppleness recently after having a few sessions where he felt blocked)
It was a good test for T, we’ve been rehabbing after fetlock medication. I’ve been gradually ramping up the schooling work but have not really strung too much together yet. T dealt with everything brilliantly. I’ve booked in for another session after Christmas and started planning our next competition season ?

NMT - I also commented on FB but so so sorry to read about Fig. As a combination you were a real inspiration to many people.

A good weekend here - my schoolmaster lesson was great (despite me having a cold and struggling to breathe!). The trainer was more demanding this time having seen me last week, so we worked through similar exercises but with more engagement and power. The horse has very expressive ears and I'm not sure he was impressed with having to work harder ? but he was fab. I went with a friend who hasn't schooled (other than 'classical' lessons mostly in walk(!)) for a few years and she's filled with self-doubt at the best of times. She did brilliantly - she's actually a lovely rider - and really enjoyed it too.

Then the Diane Thurman-Baker clinic yesterday was really interesting, not least because the five horses presented included a PSG cob working towards GP, GP PRE stallion and warmblood with kissing spines, and a 6yo WBxCBxTB. It was nice to see the variety and how they worked through exercises up the levels.

The little cob particularly won us over, especially with the tinsel!

can we fast forward to next weekend? i'm ready for this week to be over Fortunately Frankie has been doing well so far despite attempting to chop his leg off, so now it is horse-shuffling time to get him to the yard where he can join Hospital Corner to heal up, and get Hera settled without him.
First step is done as i have brought Salty back to the nursery paddock, figured she would be the best option to take over companion duties as she is so easygoing. Tomorrow we need to load Frank up and ship him off to his new boarding school and then release the yearling who has been stabled for 5 days and hope she doesn't just sail off into the distance!!

Lesson was great, interesting mix of a semi established but got a few issues horse. Another new one to me too so good for just cracking on and working out what's underneath. Combo of funky pole work, lots of canter/counter canter work and he really improved. Quite like the wonky ones, way more rewarding when they go well.
