I'm not sure if it's a bit premature but it's Thursday night, I'm riding tomorrow and really excited about it, so close enough maybe?!

Weather looks...questionable here. Various combos of strong wind and/or rain. The sun may make an appearance at some point. Less than favourable for a tending towards nervous rider still getting to know a bombproof but also new to me share horse. I wonder if the weather is scuppering others' plans? Are you taking it easy or braving the elements this weekend?

No RS lesson this week as my RI is out for a while and my budget is a little tight post Christmas. Share horse tomorrow to go in the school and again on Saturday. My hope is to do one school, one hack each week to progress with both and not bore him in the school but with the crap weather and my on-foot companion (aka my OH) unavailable, I feel staying in the school this week is more likely to keep giving us the positive building blocks for my confidence and being the best I can be for share horse. I am not totally sure of a plan but thought I could keep practicing from the lesson I had on him so that when I have the next lesson with him I'll be further forward (literally moving more forward!) than I was the first time and we can build from there.

Clinics (pole and jump) happening at share horse's yard on Saturday so I am hoping to watch those with a view to joining one soon. I haven't done a clinic before although have watched a few in other places. I'm looking forward to watching and learning, and excited at the prospect of trying something new and having fun with it!

Nothing this weekend, just spent £1400 on some new fencing for the fields... gulp!

I did go for a dressage lesson this week and Dima was really great. We also now have permission from trainer to enter a Medium test this month ?

Heading out for a jump lesson on Monday, it feels like everything is gearing up for the season again, except this awful weather!!

Don't think this can be beaten!

Cloball definitely wins the weekend :D

New season so close but also so far, bring on the Spring! And the sun, even just for a bit. It came out for a tantalising half hour today. Then back to rain, with added gusts of wind.

Cloball wins! And we want pictures....

I am at a show jumping clinic tonight. Luckily indoors as it's GRIM out there. New trainer which is always daunting but I am stretching my comfort Zone these days. I will still go back to familiar trainers for consistency, but occasionally will try someone new for a different perspective.

New horse is way more exciting than my weekend!

Went for a hack with a friend this arvo, she was very impressed with our hills. Then she gave Henry a physio treatment (qualified physio, she’s great to have a a friend!). She said he felt so much better and she couldn’t get over goes good he likes right now so I’m very pleased

The rest of the weekend we are just going to chill at home. H will have tomorrow off and I’ll do pole work with Coolie. Might have a little jump Sunday. We will see!

Its actually sunny here today, although very windy.

Hacked both ponies on the short route. They've been in overnight since Tuesday so the microcob was a bit stiff setting off up the hill and only wanted to do the short route, but baby cob had a spring in his step and could have gone a lot further

Just checked the weather - windy on Sunday so that might make things entertaining. Have a little sj outing and it’s windy up there at the best of times! Went there for a lesson last weekend and it went better than I thought as we haven’t been out jumping since camp in oct. Lets hope I can translate some of that on Sunday!

Regretting not asking for a late time though as I need to be up around 6am ?

Dressage lesson with the baby this morning :D
She was awesome, big things to come this year hopefully!

We have been having the first proper summer weather in a while, 32/33C days so riding happens either early or late. Going to take the pony out tomorrow for a school, then a saddle fit for her on Monday to find a saddle we both like!

Have a good weekend all, hopefully not too cold :)

Chilli’s just coming back into work after 5 weeks off so just some walk hacks for us.

A potential sharer for Indio came to try him yesterday and he was so happy to be doing something, he’s barely been out of the field in the last two months and he jogged excitedly down the road when I led him in! He was lovely to ride for me and the sharer, she’s coming back for a hack today so hopefully he’ll have someone to pamper him and bring him back into some gentle work. He may be a bit wonky but he’s too good, and too keen to work, to fester in the field!

Best laid plans and all that… was walking the big lad last night and a dog shot out from nowhere and spooked him, big style - ended up getting kicked in the abdomen and knocked to the ground. On mum’s advice (she’s a paramedic) I came to a&e, ended up having a CT scan and staying overnight.
Sedalin required tonight, I think. Might need to send him away for a couple of weeks because I’m not sure I’ll be fit for walking for the next few days!
Horses are fun ?

Oh no! I hope nothing serious has been damaged and that you’re up and about again soon.

I had a lesson today. I used to see Caroline Moore monthly and haven’t seen her for nearly 2 years for various reasons and it showed today. So many holes were found with Katie Williams today, but that’s great. I used to get so upset by days like this and now I embrace them and kind of come away happy as stuff I can work on and not 3 days before a competition where you would not want this happening!
Pick up my broodmare tomorrow as she is coming back into work will stay with me for 10 days where I can tidy her up and get her started long reining and building her back up after a year off before she goes to her permanent loaner to be a fun horse having an easy life. She is asymmetrical behind due to a field accident at 5 but perfectly capable of hacking and low level things. I have seen too many horror stories of horses on broodmare loan and I like her too much for that. Her loaner is completely unambitious and has looked after her 28 year horse immaculately so I think Flora will do well.

Ooh blimey Sheep, I hope you're on the mend soon!

Exciting potential sharer and loaner news there Jiffy and LEC.

I did a couple of short sessions in the school with new share horse. Spent quite a bit of it picking at my riding, there's soooo much to work on. I tried to remember though it's such early days and one of the big goals right now is to just get to know him. Definite progress with my confidence on him and more of our trot feels like he is carrying me not the other way around! Lesson booked for next week though because we are really crooked and that definitely does need to be sorted.

I also watched a pole clinic - the exercises looked deceptively simple but it was great watching each horse/rider combo progress with each attempt. Feeling like I could be ready to give one a go myself next month. Exciting/bit scary but the people are really nice and it should be fun :)

Very tame compared with a new pony, but I am happy with today anyway. BH has had his holiday to grow, and he has grown hugely in presence. Luckily he is very kind and so lovely. We did our longest ride yet, half with boots on and half barefoot. he was excellent crossing the canal crossings, first time in ages and he hadn't done it much before, and then stood like a rock while I de-booted and stowed them in a rucksack.

Did 1 hour with boots, half an hour without.

He feels great!

He is so lovely! Really looking forward to seeing more BH updates this year. :)

Michen you and Boggle definitely win the hacking I think! Sorry, the trail riding as I think you might call it over there :D

It got even better today. And I am so grateful for my gutsy horse! It’s not easy to navigate snow, mud, ice, slush, rocks. And bridges, people and dogs. He just takes the lead and is so careful and clever with his feet!
