I have a little 3 year old section A which I am going to start off soon and was wondering what sort of size saddle would be the norm? Also, roughly the size of bit and bridle? I am only used to much bigger horses and just hope that someone with a sec a could give me a rough idea. Thank you!

A 12" - 14" saddle, some get away with 15". Small pony bridle. The bit size will vary from pony to pony ( I have had 3.5" - 5") so you will need to measure your individual pony.

Aw, a foal size head collar!!! Probably mine is too! Thanks for all the replies, she has a tiny head too, but it gives me an idea of what to look at in the tack shop. Just need to see if I can squeeze my derriere into a 14.5" saddle haha.

Andy my 11.1 section a is in a shetland bridle ( with a pony nose band) & head collar, 4'6 rugs and a 14" saddle ( when I can get it). His bit is a 4.5"

I am a very mean mummy, she has no rugs! She's a little fluffball. Appreciate all the information given, will get started soon!

shires do a special little bridle for section A's.

I use a maxam saddle, which I've used on both shetties and A's. It's great, I think It's 14 inch, x wide, but it seems to fit anything.
If you can't fit your bottom in a small saddle try one of the shetland pads, then you'll have stirrps and a girth but your weight will be better balanced.
