i'm interseted in buying a section C to do showjumping and some x-country on but am worried about problems occuring from my height and weight. i'm 5'3 and weight just over 8 stone and so i'm not quite sure if a pony of about 13-13.2hh would be suitable but i don't want anthing much bigger. could this cause any issues?

I'm 5 foot 7 and weigh more than you :p and I have a Sec C colt who I will be riding once he's old enough. At your weight and height you will be fine!

I'm 5.4 and 10stone and my 13.1 Welsh C has no complaints. I know a lady about the same height whose welsh C will pop round a 3.3 XC course and keeps up with the biggies hunting. Providing you don't tell them their small you'll be fine.

My Section D just sneaks in there from Section C at 13.3 and he's very happily pinged me round XC to 90cm and SJ to 115cm. I'm 5'7ish but long body and shorter legs. I didn't look elegant on him but we had a good time. I'm sure at 5'3 you will be fine.

I used to have a 13'3 section c on loan... I'm 5'10... To be fair I was shorter back then as I was only a young whipper snapper! But I was still riding him in my early twenties. Brilliant pony :) you will be absolutely fine I am sure.

another one with a sneaky welsh D at 13.3! :D

I ride mine fine at 5ft 4 and 12 stone, though I am aiming to lose weight this year as she is only going to get older and her 20% rule is 11 stone ish.

Al rode an adorable section C, who she did quite a few 3' WH classes on. He was super, best hunting pony around and beyond pingy!
