Sections, folds, slices.... how do you refer to a 'piece' of hay?

I never for a minute thought i'd get home to over 140 replies :D
Interesting to how many different words are used to describe a section :D
Goes off to find another interesting yard object that has many names :)

I've always called it a clat,
take a chiggy pig (chickie pig/ chuckie pig) for example, nobody other than those who are local to my area has a clue!

We used to call them Chuggie pigs, I was raised in East Devon. I used to ride a horse called Chuggy Pig.

Always been a section to me, although here it is a flake.

I'm in southern Hampshire, lived here for 35years+ and have always said 'a fold of hay'. Seems like I am in the minority. Most other people in this area Southampton/Fareham/Portsmouth call them sections or wedges.

I have never heard of hay being called cakes or bisquits!

just burst out laughing at flaps, excuse my mind! .. :o:rolleyes:

Glad you said that before me!!! LOL. Thought it was just my weird and dirty mind alone. Glad to know I am not alone after all. Sad though, considering I'm mid forties with 4 kids. I really DO need to grow up. LOL. :D

Either a slab or a wad. Slab works better with my dad because he seems to think a wad means a bale...

"No dad, you can't feed the lammy shetland a whole bale!" is a conversation we've had of late.
