Just bought myself an Ifor Williams 510 and though the seller is letting me have their wheel lock, I definitely need one that is alot sturdier and secure:rolleyes: As I don't fancy it being stolen (alot of thefts of anything remotely of value in our area) what should I be looking for? Are hitch locks any good or stick with some solid wheel clamps on diagonal wheels?

I don't think there is a trailer lock on the market that would stop someone stealing a trailer tbh. My insurance doesn't require me to use a wheel lock but I know some do so it's worth checking that.

My insurance requires a wheel lock. I have two on, a lightweight one, which I had specifically approved by the insurance and which I also take when going away and a heavy duty bulldog one. Also have a hitch lock and font ever leave anything on there. But I guess my main protection is, that the trailer is just not a popular make ;-)

Bulldog are one of the best makes to use. When you are using wheel clamps, put them on the back wheels rather than the front ones - otherwise the thieving ***s can simply jack the front up on their tow vehicle and render them useless.
Hitchlocks aren't much of a deterrent on their own as the tow hitch can be roped onto the back of the tow vehicle, rather than using the tow ball.

They will always get around whatever you use if they really want to, but bear in mind they will want to get the job done as quickly as possible (unless the trailer is kept somewhere really remote) so the more devices it has, the more chance they will not bother and move on to an easier target..

As well as wheel clamps, hitch locks and personalising the roof of the trailer (I use the stick on letters available from motorists shops for this) the best thing you can do is think about where you are parking it. Do not leave a trailer in view of passing traffic, keep it behind a secure gate if possible.
