Quick question for those of you who go out hacking and park up in random layby's etc, how do you secure your trailers whilst your out and about? do you take your wheel clamp along with you?
They probably thought the hitch lock sufficient. It's not. 5 minutes with a drill!
I have one of these for my trailer and I put it on at home when its unhitched and anywhere we are out in public!!

haha, no it doesn't matter! Clamp on nuts is all you need.
We did have issue on one trailer that it seemed to fit better in one direction than the other which was fun.
You have been very lucky, or you must visit places not frequented by less flavoursome of society like the types we have around by me, or I am just incredibly cynical and distrusting.Eeek I have never secured mine! Take it to the beach and the woods and all sorts with nothing on haha! Never even given it a thought. I think I must have turned into a complete country bumpkin

We are in a very lovely remote area admittedly. When we go further afield we tend to take the lorry but I will definitely look into some kind of security for the future as embarrassingly it has just never occurred to me that someone could just unhitch and take off with our trailer... This thread has been very enlightening for me haha!!
Ester, I have one of these, can I ask you a really stupid question???? I seem to spend ages reversing, then pulling forwards a fraction to get the nuts in the right place at the bottom of the wheel, or does it actually not matter as long as you can get the clamp on the nuts???
Anyway you can get the nuts trapped is fine. I have one too and it's so much better than faffing about trying to put two parts together and them being reluctant to do it. And yes, I am talking exclusively about wheel locks
I think you can't go straight up on an ifor though cos the mudflap gets in the way![]()
I can get my ifor up whenever I want!
Mine is only a year old but that style is no problem whatever you do with it. I did initially think it only went on one way but it does both now even if it didn't then.
Mine is a 506, and I really did think they would only go on one way, but thank you im so glad to hear they will fit any old how, and im not alone in initially thinking it wouldn't
So off to find some suitable lay by's and/or open car park spaces without barriers.
These look good, I have a little plastic ball that locks into the hitch at the moment when its parked up and obviously the clamp, but these do look like they would be a worthy investment, can it be fitted when your hitched up as well?
