Sedalin dosage?

how much would you give to a fine 14.2hh pony to clip roughly?

I give my 15.2 mare 4ml of sedalin an hour before the clip, shes terrified of clippers, but the 4ml is plenty to keep her calm... My vet said he wouldn't be bothered if I gave her the whole tube !! Though I wouldn't recommend you do that. I would ask your vet...

Erm do you not need to get sedalin from a vet?? Also, a higher dosage does not = deeper sedation it just means the effects last longer (I think).

My sedalin DOES come from the vet... though the clipper lady can get it too. Higher dosage does mean a longer time not a greater depth of sedation, yes.. but you have to be careful as if you give them too much they can sweat up, not good when you're clipping. I find that my "scared to death of clippers" mare is quiet enough for a full clip without sweating on only 4ml. She's a 15.2 HW cob. So thats why I recommend that the original poster asks her vet re the dose for the pony... as it all depends on the build etc etc...

I'd ask you vet if I were you just to be safe, and would depend how bad it is to clip, maybe it needs injection
