Hi all,

Okay. I have got a prescription for Sedalin from my vet. My first question is about ordering the Sedalin online. Can I upload an image or fax the prescription to an online pharmacy (like VioVet etc)? Or do I have to post the hard copy?

2nd question... I've read that it's also safe to use on dogs, I'd like to calm both
my dog & horse on bonfire night. I just don't know what dosage a dog would need?? He's a Wheaten Terrier, medium sized dog.

Thanks :)

1-2 measures of sedalin can send my 15 hand horse into lala land so I would not risk using it for a small dog, you can get acp tablets for dogs, much cheaper and less risky than using an equine product.

In my experience it can be very variable in its effects. I have a 13hh pony who is away with the fairies on 1ml and a 13.2hh pony who needs 1/2 a tube to take the edge off. I wouldn't use it on a dog personally, if 1ml can knock out a 300kg pony, a dog weighs far less than that...

however 2 ml of it didn't do anything for my mini he still legged it around and I couldn't catch him. feed on empty tummy, or as empty as poss. don't mix with feed

Dont mix with feed... okay what about injecting it into a slice of apple or something? She doesn't like syringes in her mouth, I put her wormer in her feed !

Apple sauce! Genius. From my hand? Guess I'd best turn her in early too. Hang on. If I do it in the morning, how long would I wait to turn her out? She couldn't go out drowsy surely?

I bought sedalin straight from the vet. Bought it just in case we needed to calm her down during the dentist visit. Before she was always sedated by the vet, but the last time she took longer to come around (a bit scary) ... so decided to change to an equine dentist. He worked on her teeth and didn't use anything!

Dog ... we give our ACP 10mg per tablet (500) taken straight from prescription in front of me. Used to get it from vets, but they don't do that anymore. They gave me the prescription, but I left it too late to order online. So we are travelling without meds.

We used the ACP for travelling to Cornwall last year, as it was a very long trip for us. It calmed her down ... she just fell asleep in the car.

I just mixed it up in the bucket, gave 1mg then half an hour later gave another 1mg! didn't work but I gave with feed the 2nd time! was only when the vet arrived he said don't give with feed! should see results in an hour but doubt it will last for ages! maybe a couple of hrs max?

No, I have no idea of any alternatives. Sorry, tanyajade. Some people use DAP diffuser, I think it is called, but expensive. Or Bach remedies. I used the latter for a boxer with separation anxiety, it does have to be in the system for a while to take effect, I reckon. Not sure if it helped, tbh ... she was slightly better but maybe she was more settled too (??)

Try the http://www.petforums.co.uk for some more information. There was a thread regarding ACP, quite useful.

Ask your vet........... if you treat your dog with it & give the wrong dose you could do serious harm to him.
