does this work?, got some from the vet yesterday for my tb who is for sale and is going to be reschooled so he needs to be clipped, i thought he would be ok to clipp but no, i started and could only do he shoulder and half way up his neck as he throws his head around when i try to do upo his neck and kicks out when i try to do hi back end, i think this is when the hair is landing on his legs, do you think the sedeline will help to relax him or not

Sedaline works with my boy, but he is 17.2 and really bad at being clipped, so my vet actually said to give him pratically the whole tube and he was fine. Gave him less teh 2nd time around, and it wasnt enough so had to top him up! I know it is more expensive, but what about getting the vet to come out and sedate him to clip - that works really well!

thanks, going to try later with the sedalin if it doesnt work will have to get vet out as hes half clipped!

I need to sedaline mine to clip to and works well. But I still mess around with the clippers on him when he is 'sober' he is gradually getting better though. Two of my friends horses don't respond to the sedaline so they get sedated by the vet.

my mums bosses hunt horse is scared of anything electrical, so when he was clipped the vet sedated him but it took two attempts to take the edge off him although it was good he sweated up abit. Now he is on sedaline and has 1 and 1/2 of a syringe and this works fine(cheaper too!), hope this helps.

Doesn't seem to do much on the pony - if she gets nervous, she seems to be able to override it....so try and make a calm environment (sure you would anyway).

I had just given her some and 20 mins later the shooters started beating the bush right behind her. Needless to say, her mane did not get pulled that day, and as yet, still has not!!

If it doesn't work, the vet one is a very viable option - pony had that for first ever clip, and although with callout charge was almost 60 quid, was worth it...especially if you are looking to sell and need him looking tidy!

I use sedaline on my TB when he's been on box rest (regularly - he's a walking disaster!) as he can be difficult to lead to the field. I find it works. He's a 16hh2 TB and has between 2 and 3ml of sedaline.
Quick tip though is to make sure it goes under the tongue, it is better absorbed that way. Takes anywhere between 20mins and 45 mins to work.
