My boy is suffering with the above due to the wet weather we've been having, I'm using Foot and Master at the mo which seems ok but he is regularly losing his shoes because his feet are just dreadful at the moment. He's now going to be a stable kept boy until the mud goes and I can clear the problem up.

My horse had seedy toe in all four feet last spring and summer. It cleared up ok but took a long time to grow out - eventually a combination of feeding Formula 4 Feet plus cleaning with pevidine, flushing with hydrogen peroxide and plugging any major holes with purple spray-soaked cotton wool did the trick. There are many different approaches IME, though most of them work eventually.

My boy had it in one foot last autumn. My vet recommended a Hibi scrub rinse, then hydrogen peroxide syringed into the hole followed by antiseptic spray. Did the trick quick quickly. Try to keep the foot as dry as possible.

Iodine. I am becoming a pro at ST due to donkeys being very prone to it. Clean out the area, spray with iodine, plug hole with cotton (important to allow it to breathe) then spray the cotton wool with iodine.
Sugardine (sugar/iodine paste)is supposedly the most effective treatment, but I have not actually tried it. The iodine is certainly the most efctive thing I have tried, and I have tried most!!

My horse was diagnosed with seedy toe last year which then went on to give him laminitis due to lots of hoof wall having to be cut away. I tried lots of different things but the only thing that has kept it at bay has been neat iodine - you will need to order it from your vets. Wash out the area thoroughly twice a day and then use a toothbrush to apply the iodine - this ensures it gets in all the nooks and crannies - good luck - it can be nastier than most people think!

Cleantrax about £16.00 a bottle and it will do 2 feet. You have to soak them for 45 minutes each, so will your horse stand with a bag tied round his leg for 45 minutes. It will really clean up any infection.

Iodine? I kept getting warned off that as potentially very harmful when my horse had an abcess.

Hi

Kevin Bacon does a very good hoof ointment. I used this after my mare got seedy toes following a dorsal wall re-section from laminitis. Also, NAF pro-feet is fantastic and I thoroughly recommend it.

Good Luck
