Seeking Love

When I met the OH (coming up 5 years ago), he knew I loved horses and was into riding etc but did not have a horse at the time. He is heavily into flying and is an insturctor too. So, for a change, I got into flying,....never had the same passion for it though! So, after loaning a couple I got myself my little mare. He knows she comes first and I must see her every day or pay someone to look after her if we want to go away. He is not horsey, but because he has his own passion, we seem to just get on with it. I never moaned about the amount flying costs before I got the horse, he never moans about her now. If its a sunny day, he goes flying, I go to the yard! He does sometimes come along and try to help (good at putting fences up etc!) and my mare adores him (which he revels in!). I know and always have that his flying and planes come first, and he knows my little girl comes first for me now. It hasnt caused any issues yet!! Just a mutual understnading of whats important in each others lives and being easy going about it. He cant fly at night and I cant ride at night (in the dark) so thats our time to chill out.

I bet you do ;) :D

Haha!! I probably could have worded that better! :D I tell ya, you lot are nearly as bad as those i work with! :p

Speaking of work... I may have discovered why lot are struggling to find a horsey bloke.
I managed to let slip about considering learning to ride earlier, and the instant reaction was 'Horses are girly. Only girls and gay people ride horses'
I wonder if so many lads are put off because of the stick they would get from their mates??
I always thought it was a gender neutral hobby... Seems that others have a different view!:(

Mine is a farmer's son so used to animals coming first and is happy to handle my horses. He's good at stuff like injections and banding sarcoids. :D

I met him in a bar when I was completely rat-arsed. I was new in town and knew noone so had the marvellous idea of drinking the best part of a bottle of vodka before acquainting myself with the natives. I was 19. It seemed a good idea at the time. He "rescued" me from a fight and I've been with him ever since.

Happy days.

I'm still nuts about him. But the horses defo come first and he knows it. :D

NimrOd! I have a livery yard in Lincolnshire and although I'm not in the market so to speak, lol, some of my female clients certainly are :D

This sounds interesting! :D Where abouts in Lincolnshire, exactly??:)

:D :D :D So how old are you Nimr0d?

22... A fine young age! :D Whether or not i choose to act it, though, is a completely different matter! ;):p

My boyfriend wasn't horsey when I met him but I had a horse at the time. He bought me my new boy, drives me about in the lorry everywhere, pays the rent so I can keep him on full livery and generally helps out. He is great at cleaning boots before hunting too :) I think it helps he has his own hobbies. He knows my horse makes me happy, so that's good enough for him. Although he will sometimes say, does he REALLY another rug lol! But he doesn't resent any time or money I spend in him.

Near Sleaford :) I must say though, you would be a bit of a toy boy :D

Hahaha... I'm going to take that as a compliment!:D Sleaford... its not that far away from me. About an hour or so:)

Hmm, he is rather young isn't he? Suppose it would be ok if someone wanted a youngster to break in :p :D

Being young is good!:p It means i have plenty of stamina...;) :D

I have just the thing for him, lol. It could be considered a service to the community, I think :D

A service to the community!? Suddenly, This all sounds very drastic!:D

If i had any sense, i'd leave right now. But i don't... So you're stuck with me! :p It already feels like home!! :D

Yes it is gender neutral!! however I think you will find more men than women ride and plenty of men at the very top of most dissaplins , to be honest I never got into horses properly untill I discovered western riding and quarter horses, you are riding in jeans and a nice shirt even for showing and with a mix of classical horsemanship, relaxed but responsive horses.... adictive , but hey whatever else you do have fun and dont let anyone put you down for doing equestianism ....

Cheers mate:) Like i said, it seems to be everyone else's view thats jaded:confused: I couldn't really care less what others choose to think of me. If i enjoy doing something, i'll keep doing it. After-all, its my time and money! :D I've never even considered western... I've always been mesmerized by Jumping and XC. But im the sort that would be quite happy to just trot off across fields looking at the countryside from a different angle:o
I just need to find the nerve to do something about it... The thought of being the odd-one-out in every way possible is quite daunting!:(

Well Nimrod, I'm only 20 so maybe we could get down to the finer details of our deal earlier ;)

Are you indeed! Well, this sounds like a great idea!;) Just how finer detail do you want to go into... :D
