I am trying to pin down Pickle's change in behavior, because although he is on box rest he is normally fine, he has had far longer in and been fine to walk in the past! and was fine on first walks after box rest which if I remember correctly was before selenavite E

Could this be a valid idea?

oh yes selenium is used to increase stamina and performance so if you are giving it to a horse on box rest its asking for it, used it when my boy was 3 day fit (long format) and had to be careful not to over do it

Hi, I`ve been feeding my mare this for about 2 months just because I thought she came out of the stable a bit stiff for the first 2-3 strides in the morning. I have had no effects from it whatsoever. She is still calm and nice to ride, nothing out of the ordinary.
I know that some things can send her funny cos when I fed her red cell that did it big style and also the pasture mix. A lot of carrots can set her off slightly too.
But not the Selenavite E.

Hmmm think I will take him off it anyway, he was on red cell constantly for a while on vets advise and that had no effect whatsoever. Have a feeling this could be to blame, as although he is on box rest I have never seen him this wild, and he has been on longer box rest stints than this one!

unless he really needs it ..won't hurt to try him for a while without, at least then you will know. Also Sometimes I find with more native(don't know if yours is a native tho) types that any kind of vitamin supplement sends them loopy

Could be.

I know many would dispute it because the feedling levels are so low, but I'm convinced my welsh sec D has been affected by Baileys Lo-Cal for the past couple of months. Now he's off it he has returned to normal - and he did seem to return to his old calm self within about 4/5 days of me stopping his feed....
