have you thought about spending some time looking back as well as forward, thinking about what you couldn't do last month as well as what you want to be able to do next month. Often we can be too strict with ourselves - as you say, as soon as we achieve one thing we think "oh that is easy now, it is nothing, I must be able to achieve THIS to be successful". Maybe if you try to focus on the fact that you couldn't do the activity before and how frustrating it was, then you will be better able to appreciate how much you have achieved.

Sounds as though you have something more going on in your life than your riding that you have doubts about. Are you having problems at work or home that you can't do anything about and you are trying to have more control over things when it comes to your riding?

thank you SWW.... i find i get very "caught up in the moment" so my horse is peeing around being a green baby horse he doesnt really know any better but I deal with it effectively i.e. we progress further from the bad behaviour but then i get upset with myself because he has been naughty as if im blaming myself for it... its very hard to put into words what i mean...

i am not "taking it out on my horse" but my riding suffers, i feel v much like ppl are waiting for me to fail and for it to all go wrong.

my horse has come on soooo much since he arive 6 weeks ago. am i ever going to be good enough for myself, i am my own worst enemy ..

Hugs for you.

I dont know if it would help, but what about getting a page a day diary and writing everything you do with your horse in it.

It might help you to look back and think, 2 weeks ago we struggled to do this, but now we do it every time, and also see if there are patterns in how you feel, what happens (as a random example, is it worse on a windy day, or after a stressful day?)
