The spaniel was happily playing on the garden yesterday when she suddenly held up her left paw - she had managed to (god knows how) slice her dew claw pad - not deep enough to bleed but to have a flap on it - she kept licking it so i cleaned it up and bandage it.... (slight bit of blood few hours later but literally a drop)....

Today.... she does the other one  but its more of a skim this time - so ive sudocremed that and padded/bandaged that up again (didnt sudocrem the first as it was a slice and i didnt think that was right)

Dont call me a tight cow for not going the vets but its not even near deep enough for stitched - the other one hasnt bled - the first a drop....

But is there anything else i should/could do??? anything i should put on them or is sudocrem ok for the right and nothing on the left??

In 4 years this dog has never had a scrape.... then she comes in with two lol!! But then again this time last year she had over 2k of vet bills so mabey she misses the attention? :D

I'd just leave them, keep an eye on them and make sure they stay clean (as much as you can anyway). You could always give your vet a call and see if they will advise you (although mine always just says 'You'd better bring him in:rolleyes:). Or does your insurance have a helpline, some companies have vet nurses you can speak to for advice?

You can use spray-on elastoplast if you want to, to protect them, although based on Henry's reaction I think it stings! I wouldn't bother for a cut, I used it on Henry for a big nasty graze though.:)

ok thanks :)

i will keep them bandaged though? just as she keeps licking them constantly...?

ets - yes my vets would say "bring her in" and it would be £30 to say "good job.... heres some anti b's too".. :D
