My OH and myself were talking yesterday and got onto the fact that my 3.5t box is rarely used - in fact it's mainly used for vets visits - I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I've had it out in the last twelve months. But I do want some form of transport. The box is nice and I could sell it for about £8k at least, looking at similar ones which are for sale of the same age for over £10k.
I currently drive an old Honda Civic - petrol and I get about 35mpg from it, sometimes less. My mileage is about 12-15000 per year as I don't use it for works mileage much now due to promotion at work.
We had a look at some Kia Sorrentos yesterday - towing capacity 2500kg. The most I would be towing would be one 16.2hh TB and a 14hh New Forest pony. I would be looking at something like a Bateson trailer.
So would it be more economical to get a diesel Sorrento and a trailer than keeping the box that I have ? I'm paying two lots of insurance, tax, mot, servicing etc
It won't be until later this year that we make the decision, but just trying to weigh up the pros and cons. I passed my test in 1990 so no issue with towing...
Thanks
