Sell or not to sell??

Hi, I have a 7yr old welsh D x Hann chestnut mare. She is not 100% to handle, she will kick you when you try and catch her or if you try to wash her back legs or tail. She does not load particually well and is not 100% to shoe and clip however with perseverance you can manage both without sedative. I have owned her for just over a year now and when i got her she did not know how to jump and was not particuallrly well schooled. I am now at a loss becuase i have entered her into competitions but she will never settle at them and always gets so tense and distracted and she has done one intro but had a stop at the first fence. i no she can work very well and behave her self but she never seems to want to. My friend has ridden her and she goes really well for her. I am not sure if it is me winding her up or if i am not good enough for her. I know she is a difficult horse and do not really want to sell her but am not sure if this is the right way forward. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can get her to settle or create a better relatioship?? Any help would be much appareciated.

She looks like a great horse......for someone else. Cut your losses, sell her to someone that she gets on with and find yourself a lovely horse that you will get on with. Life is too short and horses are too expensive to persevere with a situation that neither of you are happy with.

She looks lovely but it sounds like she's got a bit of an attitude problem!! I think I'd sell her and get something a bit more enjoyable - she sounds like a bit of a pain.

Completely agree with Tia - life is too short and the mare will find a happy home x not an easy decision though Im sure. The fact you've posted this prob means your gut instinct is to let her go.. good luck

Ah, sorry to hear your thinking of selling Tegan. I thought she was going quite well for you - but I suppose that was a while ago.

She does seem to be a bit of a stress head sometimes. Maybe you would be happier with something else and I'm sure if you found the right person (someone very calm obviously!) she would be happy too. She does seem to excel at dressage doesn't she...?

Sell and her get something more suited to the disclipline you want to do. She's probably not enjoying whats expected of her and would be more suited to a different area of ridden work. Much the same as us- horses don't always enjoy the job they are expected to do!

Unfortunately, some horses just arent suited to the job we want them to do, and good horsemanship is about knowing when to stop. If you don't feel you have the know-how or confidence to sort your problems out then you will probably be best selling her, however make sure she goes to someone who can cope with her, otherwise she may be passed around to dealers.
