hi guys, can anyone recommend some nice selle francais stallions standing in britain, pref 16hh+, to breed event types. Ive had a look at major league and Take it to the limit and particually like the second- but would perhaps prefer a proven stallion. Any ideas? thanx

I tried with Calypso d'Herbiers this year on my advanced SF mare, but she lost the embryo at about 2 or 3 weeks, and as it was very late I am waiting until next spring when he's moving to the UK to be specifically marketed towards event breeders. I think the url is www.frenchstallions.org or something. It's not been confirmed yet exactly where he'll be standing but I believe it will either be Twemlows or West Kington. The video of him jumping in the La Baule Derby is fantastic. He won the 4yo French championships in all 3 disciplines, which I don't think has been done before or since.

i have one!!!!! a friend also has a grade A french stallion, not sure of his breeding but he is proven, my boy has it all to do.

Calypso d'herbiers is a lovely stallion. I am not surprised to hear he is going to England. He is not hugely fashionable here. I guess because most people here are obsessed with breeding show jumpers and are less interested in eventers.
The only thing I would say is that if you use him, the mare needs to be quite tall and strong. I would not put him to a small mare, as he doesn't appear to pass on much height.
