So I'm trying to buy a horse.
The number of sellers, including dealers, that just don't reply or reply over the course of days is just remarkable. Do they want to sell horses?
For a week and a half I've been trying to get to see a horse at a reputable dealers. Finally got to agreeing on Sunday. Its sat morning and they still haven't replied to the message asking for a time. I've tried calling, leaving messages...
If I didn't actually want to try the horse I would literally drop it and see what happened and then say it was too short notice now to go there.
I had one cancel an hour before cos they "needed to get their lorry repaired". Tried to rearrange that one but message not even read
Another that reads messages but doesnt reply.
Honestly it's terrible!!! And this is their business?!

I would always call rather than message. I know from occasionally selling that you get lots of messages that are not real buyers. It gets tiresome.

BTW, Mr Red is trying to buy a car. Main dealer. It is as bad. We feel your pain!

This may not apply to you at all but when I was selling both Toby and Dolly I was inundated. And I ignored plenty of people. I ignored:
-“Price and/or location” because ime those aren’t serious buyers.
- people who asked questions answered in the ad
- people who just said pm me
- people who asked for more pics and video
- people I got a PITA vibe from!

Yeah I get that. I have called and chatted to each of these dealers though so they know I'm legit and serious. These messages are just to try and actually set up the viewing/second viewing in one case!

Also there were some people I just didn’t get round to. I did not answer in order of response but in who I liked the sound of. So buyers who explained how the horse/pony would be kept, how they rode etc. eg Dolly's buyer initially said something like: we love the look of your gorgeous pony. I’m a pony club DC and my son is a quiet, sensitive rider who wants a pony for eventing up to BE90, possibly 100. But starting at 80 and taking it slow. We can offer a very experienced home. Our horses live at homevwith year round turn out. Happy to send video of X riding to see if you think they would suit each other.

Cross posted. Sounds like they are just chaotic then. Or maybe they have done a few viewings and think the horses have probably sold . But don’t want to tell you that yet in case it falls through. If I’d done 3 viewings which all went well I’d want to hear back from Buyers 2&3 before arranging a 2nd viewing with buyer 1.

Do you think they may just not be "connecting" the message with the person they have already spoken to if they are being inundated with messages as @Ambers Echo was? If they are not answering the call I might be tempted to send a message saying something like "I will call you at X time to discuss a time to come and view the horse".
