sellers wasting time - quest for broodmare!

sorry this could probably be decribed as rant! saw an advert in a farming newspaper for two horses one described as broodmare, so rung up about them and the owner had gone on hliday I was told by her friend...she had advertised horses on friday and gone on hols on monday but the friend had agreed to act as vendor.

so we went to see these horses one was described as 16.3 sj type ready to go but had also been successful brodmare in past-sounded promising however when we got there the mare was overweight and about 15.2, the vendor agreed with me, she had also not been ridden for years ..far from ready to go!also questionable conformation..more of cob than hunter.the other mare had apparently had a neck problem so was being sold as brodmare even tho it was supposed to be cured she still wasn,t ridable hmmm:rolleyes:

I didn,t really feel like trying the sj type mare but the vendor persuaded me I sais ok as long as she rode first. the tack looked unsafe and ill fitting, she snapped headcollar when tied up. the vendor rode it and she went hollow outline and looked a little unsafe and the owner expected me to ride it ON THE ROAD.
 
Oh no how awful!!!:(. If your looking for a broodmare my friend has a couple she is selling one is broken and going nicely but still a bit green. Pm for more details :).
 
hmm I don't know why people want to advertse unsuitable mares as broodmares, ie, those with bad conformation. she could've told me over the phone. I never actually met seller just vendor who I have to say was totally honest about problems etc.
 
thanks Berry, I'm not a commercial breeder, just want to breed a horse for myself, I think it will be good experience. I have own stables, grazing and used to work in a stud so I think I have necessary facilities etc.

A mare that is broken would be ideal as I won't be breeding regularly, so being able to ride mare would be a bonus!!:)
