OK - I apolgise now for the rant but just getting really hacked off.

Why do sellers put "please email for more info" and then not bother to reply to aforementioned email.

I've sent half a dozen sellers requests for more detail - simply things like, how long have you owned him / her, any vices, able to hack alone etc. So nothing contraversial.

All have been to ads that have been posted within 24hrs so would have thought they'd have been looking to get people to view.

Sorry for the pointless rant just getting very frustrated with the horse hunt!

That is annoying! I am usually in the other position, receive lots of emails varying from "can you tell me more" er.. like what? to "is it suitable for a novice, what a lovely colour" no not suitable, it is a 4yo thoroughbred and I mentioned no novices. I am very careful to reply to everything in a professional manner even if they haven't taken the time to spell correctly or ask anything sensible. The only onesI don't reply to are ones that say "would you consider a loan?" because I wouldn't and I think asking is rude.

The people who haven't replied to you are obviously very odd. Is there any reason why you are not phoning first?

You see I could totally understand it if I was asking numpty questions or if they had been covered off in the ad but hey ho.

Only emailed first as that is what the ads said "email for more info" thought I was being more considerate to the seller but think I'll just pick up the phone from now on.

Thing is, now I'm getting suspcious (and ridiculously paranoid!!) that all these sellers are hiding something and that is why the info in the ad is just the bare basics.

I'm only looking at the ads under £3K as just want a horse I can have some fun with, just hacking and the odd schooling session. Already have a nutty ID/TB that is politely descriped as an interesting ride or rather more acurately a raving looney!! She is staying with me for life as don't think anyone else would put up with her quirks :p

I know how you feel

I was looking for a 1st pony, found one in my area that seemed perfect, it said email or text for more info, after about 10 texts and emails which were very polite and contained details such as my name phone number and asking if I could view the pony I received no response at all, when I phoned the number there was no answerphone it just rang soooo annoying!! I came to the conclusion that they didn't want to sell it, but why waste the money placing an advert?
I understand that people want to weed out timewasters but to not even reply is just down right rude IMO.

Ads are usually very short because some sites don't allow you to put loads on info on (H&H for one) and if your posting on multiple sites you just copy and paste the info.

I've not sold many horses but, those I have I've had lots of stupid emails asking questions about what color the horse is, is it a mare or gelding or is it broken in, all things that I've included in the listing, so if their asking something simple like that which does appear in the listing I ignore, I also get a lot of scam emails asking for further details, then they want you to ship the 'package' abroad etc. Or it might be that I'm having a very busy stressful day and I recieve an email asking about the horse, which I've already sold, intending to reply to the email later and forgetting..

TBH there's so many people timewasting about I'd always ring about a horse if I was 'serious'

Last autumn when we were looking I got fed up with the number of people I'd ring, either wouldn't answer or even after I'd left messages didn't bother to ring back. One I even spoke to and she said she'd ring back but didn't bother. I'd not even got as far as asking many questions and I was a serious buyer. I really felt like saying "Do you want to sell or don't you"
