My boy is currently on loan with a view to buy, I never thought I would do it but he is in a good home and from the few visits I have made looks like he is treated excellent and is well cared for:D.
I sold a pony about 9 years ago to whom I thought was a great home they moved the week after buying her and when my yard closed 6 months later they were on the yard I went to my god the state that poor pony was in was heartbreaking. I wish I would of done a loan with a view to buy for her. It may not of made a difference but it could of.
I do completely understand why people won't though

Defo would and I only buy if I get a trial. Nothing to hide and if you really want your horse to go to a good home you want to make sure they can manage it. Put my lad out on loan with a view to buy and the lady could not manage him, put him out to another home and he was happy and they bought him.

I am afraid we say no trial not interested in buying.

As others have said, I think I would if I knew the potential purchaser and/ or if the horse was to stay at current yard. I'd never send my horse away though - My friend had a horrific experience when her pony was on loan which means I would never let my horse out of my sight.

I had my horse on loan for 3 months before I bought him. I knew the previous owners and i was riding him on and off for 2 years previously but I just wanted to see that I could commit to a horse fulltime with my life in general as well. I think it was the best thing as I got to have the responsibility drip fed over the 3 months and then when i bought him it wasnt such a daunting thought!
