Selling a horse, do photos matter?

I've been browsing, well, you never know, Mr Perfect may show up, and it struck me that an enormous number of Sellers photos don't actually do the horse any justice at all.
So,
Is any photo better than none?
If it's a bad photo does it put you right off?
If you were selling would you take fresh photos or use whatever you had to hand?

If i was selling i would put pictures up that was recent and say for example it was a proven sj i would like to see it over a jump on the picture. But that just might be my personal preference. But i wont look at ads where there is no picture as if they cant be botherd then i cant be botherd xx
 
Photo's really do matter for me.

A good action shot would get my attention, a bad action shot would stop me even reading the advert.
A good side on conformation shot would be preferable to a poor action shot.
I rarely even look at adverts without pictures.

When I was looking for my horse, I always looked at the photo adverts first. You can only describe so much! Then again I got both my horses from the AdTrader and they don't do photos! I didn't know my current horse was grey until I got there to try her!
I'd say a bad (as in blurry or wrong angle) photo is better than no photo. Although if it's a bad photo as in the horse is misbehaving in it or something, unless that is what the seller is marketing the horse as (a challenge), then I'd say none is better!

) but I browse for sale websites all the time. Because I'm only fantasising, I don't look at ads without photos (but would if I could actually buy) and a bad photo always puts me off. It's great when the ads have more than one photo.

no not really but then you'll always get the ones who see his long mane and tail and think he's beautiful!! If i was looking for a hore i'd always ask to see a photo first unless they were very local.
 
Photos really matter to me if I'm going to be travelling a distance, but if the photo is OK (but not a horrendous one!) then they do not matter quite as much. To me they form more of a first impression than the wording.

I put recent photos on, doesn't give a very good impression IMO if the photo is actually an old one and horse has changed quite a bit (e.g. in looks, way of going) and if I need to show what the horse did less recently then I will email pics if asked or print pics for when people come and see the neddy.

And I think no photo is better than a bad photo by far!
 
If you can have a good photo then it could be what sells the horse and could also prevent wasted phone calls but then if you put a bad photo on then it will do the opposite and not sell the horse
We are sellin our eventer at the moment and we didn't put a picture in H&H as sister didn't have any on her computer and all the decent pictures are copyright, but many did not do the horse justice.
But you really do need a photo as all the people who have rang want pictures so we have emailed them some.
 
As much as I try to look at the potential of the horse rather than what is stood there, it's impossible not to be influenced by a decent photo and put off by a bad one. For me I like to at least see the whole horse! So many people put just a head shot or front on with it's legs chopped off!

If they are meant to have done some competing, a photo of them competing is preferable.
 
I don't look at ads without photos and if it's a bad photo I won't bother reading the ad.

There are A LOT of horses to flick though on horsemart/horsequest/H&H etc - TBH, I need the picture to grab me to make me show interest else I'm on to the next one.
