I am planning to sell my very nice 5year old connemara. He had a sarcoid lasered off last November. I thought it had grown back, but it seems to be scar tissue. I've had the area biopsied and its not positive for sarcoid.

Should I say up front in advert that pony has had a sarcoid or only mention it once prospective buyers phone?

Once they phone, only because you can then run through the tests you have done. I would ensure they know before travelling to view though.

I think I would put it in the advert. I suggest that because I think many people will switch off as soon as they hear you say "sarcoid" and not listen properly to the information about the biopsy.

I would say "has a small scar on [place] from the removal of a sarcoid 8 months ago. This scar tissue has been biopsied and proved to be clear of the virus".

Definitely mention, and be very sensible in the way you do (ycbm's wording looks about right). I have had too many sarcoid horror stories to even pick up the phone but would appreciate the wording such that if the horse ticked someone else's box I knew, I'd tell them about the advert. Other people will be just fine with it. Saves you dealing with all the 'me's' out there. Not to mention the ones who go off the deep end and don't listen to you explaining why you felt it didn't warrant mentioning in the ad.

Definitely mention prior to viewing- I’d feel a bit cheated if I turned up to view one without knowing this. Gets a viewing off to a better start if the viewer is forewarned….and then doesn’t waste anyone’s time.
