Has anyone had any luck selling a horse trailer on e bay? Im thinking of putting mine on at the weekend so ive been franticaly painting scrubbing and sweeping today! Its a rice double with brand new rubber matting front/rear unload. i want about £800 - just wondered if people were only prepared to pay really cheap money on there?

My friend bought a jeep and a trailer on ebay, so people do buy them

You can put a reserve on it if you like. But look at the other trailers they dont go that cheap really around the right prices for them really. People do pay money so stick it on ebay.

Well I haven't sold one on there but I did buy mine on there about this time last year. It's a Rice double with a new floor, rubber coated, approx 8 or 9 yrs old. i paid just over £1k.

I think the bidding started at £500.

Give it a go, you never know. If you definately want no less than £800 then either start the bidding there or put a reserve on.

Good luck

Just a bit of advice really.

If you go ahead, look at some of the car ads as there are statements saying please note you are bidding to buy not to look etc.! Lots of people bid and then come and try to knock you down on the price. Try to pinch other peoples ads if you know what I mean! Do your homework!

A pal of mine had the old tyre kickers out when he sold a car. They bid on it and then tried to knock him down on this, that, and the other! Said you didnt say this, and you didnt say that. This happens a lot!

Saying that we have bought several cars from Ebay unseen and been quite happy, even though not always as described so you can get fair buyers.

Just be aware this goes on and cover your back.

Otherwise its a waste of your time and money! (not theirs- they are scammers!)

Thanks for that doziiesmummy - i will put that on the description - I have advertised it in our local free ads but noone has replied(its only been a day - but Im impatient!!!) Its an old trailer so there are lumps and bumps but its fairly smart and very solid and tows beautifully.

I bought my old rice richardson on ebay for £1000 - seemed a little steep at the time but it has been great. About to try and sell on (probably through ebay) as I now have a lorry!

1 of our yard shop staff tried to sell his on eBay and I stopped him when he told me about the prospective buyer who had won the auction. It was an obvious attempt to scam him...

- No landline phone number, only a mobile.
- Payment by cheque. Even a cleared cheque can be cancelled for up to 6 months and the money will be taken back out of your account.
- Obviously knew nothing about trailers.

I told Mark to do the exchange at the yard, and make sure they photographed/videoed the guy and his car. When Mark suggested the yard, cash and mentioned that others would be around (i.e. witnesses), he never heard from the guy again...

My Dad sold our car on ebay and got quite a bit more for it than the dealer was offering!

As others have said do your homework and make sure you write down every little detail about it, so people cant turn round and say, it wasnt as described.
