Selling a ugly horse- can it be done?

She is gorgeous and will look even better when she matures. If I didn't already have too many I'd have her. Why don't you try an ad on the ID society website? People there will be used to seeing a young ID.

Well, I like her, and I can't see any reason why she shouldn't sell easily.:D

Ugly? Think your looking at a different horse! And the person who buys her and keeps her till she matures at 7ish will deff. be having the last laugh!

The ID Society weren't exactly nice about her when she went to inspections with her previous owner- I think they were first to come up with the term ugly!!
I have just ridden in an open field, with the other horses flying up and down the fence. Its also really windy and she hasn't been sat on for 7 days due to exams at uni. I suppose not many TB 3 year olds would do that, infact my 10 year old wouldn't!
She is Ballyknowe Prince who I believe did sire some show horses, but unfortuantly he has passed away. She was bought as a brood mare as she has rare bloodlines, she had a full sister but she was PTS after having colic, so she is a one and only!!

Now THIS is an ugly 3yo

However, Colin had a fab unflappable temperament and was sold to the second person who saw him :D:D they absolutely adore him.

I bought an incredibly ugly mare who ironically was called Vanity. I changed her name on the way home to Valerie and she was fabulous. Everybody who rode her loved her because she had 'heart', was loyal as the day is long, never refused a jump, and was a mother hen to the others in the field. Poor love even had a Donkey Society passport! I could have sold her 10 x over as her reputation far outweighed her looks. Sadly she died of colic. My current chap is extremely handsome but is only half the 'person' Val was.

I'm sure you'd have no probs selling yours - I certainly like the look of him.

Definitely not ugly, one on my old yard had four legs belonging to different horses and a head from a camel.
Mine at 3 was a giant head followed by a squat body now a swan.
You have nothing to worry about.

Beauty or ugly is in the eye of the beholder, thats why many of us don't look in the mirror. But with rare bloodlines she should sell well, and a little over the knee isn't that bad.:D:D

She's not ugly, it's just that her bottom needs to catch up with her head in growth terms:D As someone else said, she has a lovely kind expression and I also think she is a beautiful colour - she'll grow into herself and be a stunner I think:)

yes, ugly horses definitely sell!

i bought, then sold, an extremely ugly horse- he was a horrible grey colour, had a big head and pig eye, neck set low, huge roach back and poor hingleg conformation finished with a 4 strand tail!

but he could jump a house, was bold to any fence and i only wish i had bought him younger!

my current 4yro was the ugliest foal i have ever seen- but he moved well and had good limbs so he came home and has developed into a beautiful swan

My boy was a scrawny, underweight 4 year old with a mohican for a mane and the worst feet in the world..............but with the sweetest nature. He's developed into a gorgeous cob, regularly wins M&M classes, jumps, hunter trials, fun rides, hacks for miles and is admired by all the yard
