Sorry, i now thats a crap title but i wasnt sure how to sum up what i wanted to ask.
Did anyone add the "FOR SALE" facility in the entries catalogue over the previous years, if so did you have any enquiries or luck selling?
Any thoughts about it generally?

It doesn't cost anything but I have done it on various occasions, with no joy. There are not many spectators at the venues and the catalogue is just the printed A4 bits of paper they give out on the day, so hardly anyone sees that the horse is for sale.

Ditto what faberge says. I THINK because of keeping print costs down, the catalogues are ust text of each horse on A4. In an ideal world, as the futurity continues to develop it would be good to see them develop the catalogues further to be more eye catching with more info on each and maybe a photo, more in line with the catalogues seen on the continent but I realise that at this point the costs of doing such a thing are prohibitive. One idea though would be for there to be an online page on the BEF site whereby any entered stock that is up for sale can be listed with further details and pics.

I looked at all the local catalogues last year as was in the process of buying - however, as no prices I was far too worried about looking stupid I didn't ring any - must admit most of stud websites I looked at had no prices on anything so I didn't bother ringing them either

Thanks guys, theres some really interesting points raised here, i must admit its only when ive recently gone back through the catalogues i printed that i noticed some of them had a phone number and FOR SALE marked on them and i scoured most of the entries for youngsters with similar breeding to my guys as ones id potentially like to go watch, and keep track of marks, so probably not very obvious either.
Does anyone know if any decisions were made based on the recent questionaire regarding a possible sales page or promoting Futurity entrant sales?

We purchased " Esteem Dollar " after seeing her at BEF Myerscough last year. She was not marked as for sale in the catalogue but that does not mean they are not for sale.

I think you will find most breeders would be very pleased to be asked if their produce was for sale. We would take it as a compliment that we were getting it right.

Advertised my youngster as for sale but no interest, even though he good a good 1st premium in jumping and would have also received 1st prem for eventing had he been entered in that category. Adverised him on Horsequest and Horsedeals and had no interest whatsoever. He's beautifully bred but no one wants him, I refuse to drop his price below 4,500 and he'll be worth it. So he's staying with me as he really is super!

Hi I know there is going to be a new portal in the form of a website that will be targeted at selling futurity horses as well as stallions and produced horses. It look s pretty good. It's totally aimed at helping british breeders/producers and riders and will be launched soon. I think the link is www.ehGB.co.uk and you can get more info at info@ehGB.co.uk . There aim is to raise the profile of British produced horses to the rest of Europe and the americas. I've already got my name down.
