I have a nice albion XC saddle that I want to sell- I'm not keen on ebay for selling because of the way the buyer can just about hold you to ransom. Where would you suggest to advertise it- its a really nice saddle, valued at £500-600 by the saddler. It doesn't fit my horse and I don't have the space for it to just sit around- I need to to go! I don't mind not getting the higher price for it but I don't want to practically give it away either.

Any good websites or other ideas?

I'm not really sure what you mean about E-bay. I sold both my Albion GP and dressage on E-bay both for over £500.

Ebay with a reasonable starting price - then it wont sell for less than you require. And being an Albion, really sought after so no reason why it shouldnt get a good price....

or if you want a free ad, last time I looked the classified on British Dressage were free - and you dont need to be a member to advertise.

What I mean is that if a buyer pays by paypal then you do not actually receive the money until the buyer gives good feedback. The last time I sold one the buyer wanted additional items that were not actually for sale with the saddle- she initially agreed to buy them and then decided she wanted them thrown in. I didn't have a lot of choice as all she'd have had to do would be click the negative feedback and voila no money for me without a big dispute (and i beleive ebay/ paypal tend to side with buyers).

Also, saddles are going unsold on ebay just now. Albions too, even those with a start price well under their real market value.

I'd advertise on BD if it were a dressage saddle- but with it being a jump I don't think its the right place. Any suggestions of similar for an XC saddle.

Err I brought a saddle on ebay & the seller received the money immediately. I've never heard of it being dependant on receiving good feedback before?
