Does anyone do this? And do you sell much?

Where you sell it from, are you very rural, or relatively urban?

For those that do, how many bags do you sell a week? And how much do you charge?

Thanks in advance

I advertise mine in my local parish mag as free, but small donation for ILPH much appreciated. When people phone I ask if they want it by the bag or trailer. On average I make about £150 per year for WHW/ILPH. Have thought about bagging it up and putting it by the gate but we are on a corner so prob a bit of a hazard.

Round these parts people seem to be asking between 20p and £1 per bag, one fellow who took a trailer load from us said that in Holt (posher part of Naaarfolk) they are asking £1.50!

All the yards round near us give it away for free, and people are still quite fussy about if they want it or not, (ie not liking it mixed in with bedding). I don't think anyone near us would pay for it.

The only way you'd be able to charge I would have thought was if it was really really well rotted, like what you buy in garden centers.

What I'll be picking up (that I'm considering bagging up) this afternoon is rotted and has no bedding in it, because it's from the field

I am in the centre of town, so most people here probably do buy it from garden centers and pay through the nose for it.

50p a bag is going rate round here, and one down the road does wet straw too.

most of it is unrotted. I think they all get through a good few bags a week.
we are rural though on quite a main road

I cant be bothered with the bagging!

That's why I'm pondering if it's worth it, as it is so much easier to put in the barrow and then just dump it in the next field, rather than bagging it up...

Hmm, maybe I shall do a few bags this week and see how they go.

I supply the local allotment...they bring the sacks I fill em...its pure poo as I only skip out all week my big muck out at weekend goes on the muckheap....they know its fresh and they rot it down for the next year...I give it away and they bring me some produce every now any then...

We sell ours by the trailer load - £20 a go, but we do drop it off ourselves. We usually advertise online twice a year and make enough to cover our hay and feed bill for winter.

I dont sell my chickens poo from the gate as I dont want to draw attention to the fact I have them and attract those who may be only too happy to check my sheds for desirable goods/birds and I would recommend that you also think carefully, where there is muck there is tack/rugs

I put fresh manure into sacks and put them out my back gate for free on the proviso people return the bags (big sign saying Manure is free but please please return bags otherwise I do not have anything to put it in) . Only one person has ever done that so now I have run out of bags and noone can have any manure.

People just sadden me - they just cant be bothered even when they get something for nothing and even when I pleaded for the bags back. They only think about themselves ... sorry rant over, its just a real bug bear of mine.

Also I fill up a little trailer and take to local allotments for free. Might get a bigger trailer and start charging!

Ah, I don't have a trailer, I skip out with a barrow, so was just pondering put it in bags (which is a bit of a faff) and bringing it home to sell. Like I say, maybe I'll give it a go, and see how it goes. I already do odd bags for friends, who give me their produce in return

LOL! I am talking about selling it from my front gate, not my yard

If anyone thought that I had them out the back of my house, with where I live, they would have to be pretty foolish

Plus, I very much doubt anyone would be able to/want to pinch my mad mares

Rural area, £1 (we're pricey though

) and they do sell well. "In season"

we'll sell whatever we put out within a day or maybe two.

A nice idea, but it would be a lot more hassle taking each barrow load back to the main yard and loading it into the trailer than how I dispose of it atm, (and I'm not fully mobile atm 'cause of the whiplash from my kicking) and also, I'm not sure where I would put the trailer without it being in YO's way and all the machinery he has to move around

Thanks for the replies folks
