So as most of you may be aware from previous posts that my darling lard arsed luso is up for loan after the heart ache and hassle of selling a horse i cant bare to let go off, is worth the hassle of time wasters, dealers and down right cheeky b******s.
Anyway so now i have a couple of people that desperatly want to BUY her! Typical when i decided loan only! BUT
First lady is PERFECT and i desperatly want her to have her. You know when you just get thst feeling about someone and you just know they are right for the horse. She wants to take her on a months trial which i suggested. Problem is i think its too good to be true! Shes getting back to me when shes arranged transport. But she may not get back to me (we all know what its like getting your hopes up with buyers only to be let down) and even if she does the trial might not work out and fatty may not settle or not be right for her.

Second lady has msgd me asking to pay by bank transfer asap to reserve her and pick her up but she hasnt even spoke to me on the phone and is too far to come to view, her own yard and horses on fb look amazing. she has other luso's so experienced with this hot head breed. Intends to breed. shes spoken to cow bags breeder to get more info aparently so says she feels she has enough info but she hasnt asked me much atall and to not even make a phone call and has refused a trial!?

Can you tell i really dont want to let her go! Do i take offer from second lady or decline and take the risk with the first lady? I love her sooo much but i have to sell a horse to make room for a sensible kids pony (that dosnt mount me! Ha) and ive had my anglo longer and hes so sensible the kids can move upto him in a few years so he cant go!

Help someone please i don't know what to do! And yes im aware im a nightmare seller! :(

Give lady no 1 a little bit longer to come up with the transport!

Yes, they might not like each other, and you might get her back, but since you wanted to loan her this is obviously a risk you were willing to take!

Be very careful with both!

The second i would insist and a visit or atleast an indepth phone call.

The first yes may sound amazing but as you think she may not even get back to you she obviously didnt leave a deposit?

People can spout all sort or rubbish to make themselves sound good!
Dont look through rose tinted glasses!

May be you really dont want to let her go and sticking to a loan would be better.
Maye an option to sell later down the line if she finds a great loan home.

oh god, this is a nightmare, im going to end up keeping her forever weather i want to or not! Oh well im sure the kids will understand that mummy needs to keep 2 pretty field ornaments for herself, so they cant have a pony to ride now after i selfishy sold the last one that they loved (profit i couldnt but should have refused) and replaced it with a youngster they can only lead round! Aaargh god im a terrible mother aswell! Someone shoot me now!

I'll have her :) I really want a luso but can't afford to buy... can't afford to keep another one atm so just hang onto her for me for a few months? Out of interest what's her breeding and name and age and height? There was one at a yard I worked at briefly and I've wondered what happened to her

I think both buyers are suspicious frankly. How hard is it to arrange transport? I mean you just pick up the phone and organise it! Whenever I have bought a horse, I view, I vet, I pick up, the whole process takes under a week in normal circumstances.

The second lady hasn't even bothered to pick up the phone!

I also agree, I wouldn't regard both with suspicion. Like others have said, it doesn't take long to organise transport and if the second can't pick up phone before loan, she's not going to pick it up during.... Maybe wait for third time lucky?

1st one needs to pull her finger out

2nd one wants her as a brood mare and has spoken to the breeder, if there are specific lines she wants then she probably does have all the information she wants. If she has her own land then maybe she is happy to take a punt on your horse BUT I would wait till transfer is non retractable and maybe do a bit of digging to check out she has a good reputation and is not a dealer

Agree with this. I don't think she sounds suspicious-just a pro, looking for a specific line. She doesn't need to have a conversation about her, or to come and pat her on the nose. If she checks out, I expect that your mare would have a very good home, being a horse rather than a pet!

As knowledgeable people on here seem to think no2 might be a good option, why not ask her if she can give you some references and you can phone up and / or google or maybe see if someone more local can go and have a look at where your horse would be kept (someone on here perhaps?) NB also there is quite a strong luso community in UK and it may be that someone on there knows the buyer.

If you're happy for your horse to go to a breeding only home where they have a very specific job and are not pets then do a bit more digging (a proper breeder would have a detailed web site not just FB) and someone somewhere would know them/ know of them adn if they aren't a dealer then maybe that's OK.

I'm still suprised a breeder doesn't want to actually meet your mare as foals pick up so much temprament from the mare, I'd have thought they'd at least want the check that in person.

this is exactly is the point! I think it is the lines she is after and i believe its very common for breeders to buy/import etc without an initial viewing. Its just that although she says she will be a permanant home, i think she does also buy and sell and what happens to my girl when theyve finished breeding her? Its out of my hands as loan isnt an option she only wants to buy which would save hassle of her coming back but i do have an overactive conscience and zeph is sooo sensitive and she does love that bond/trust with me so would she be happy to not be fussed over? Im not so sure but am i just putting human emitions onto her and she wouldnt actually care less if she never gets pampered and cuddled again??

Second person I would not deal with. If people cant be arsed to even make a call which being old fashioned I think is only poilte then I would not want them having my horse.

The first perosn you dont say how long ago she said she would get back to you? Are we talking a couple of days or weeks?

Yep im old fashioned to and would have assumed she herself would like to phone to gauge weather or not im a complete nut job and selling her a donkey. Home really is more important, i couldnt care less about money although some would be nice! Haha
The first lady only rang me yesterday afternoon so it hasnt been long in all fairness but it was one of her liveries trailers she was planning to use (she also has own yard and its very nice! Im very jelous!) so shouldnt have taken long she said she would see her later on (yrsterday) and get back to me
I dont really want to myther the 1st but equally dont want to mess 2nd around either.

I would hang on and really take your time to loan her. There will be plenty of really nice trustworthy people who will give her a good loan home. But just really take your time.

I would contact person A and let them know about the interest you have had from person B. that might put a rocket under them

If person B becomes an option I would ask to meet them either at your place and see how they handle your horse or at their place and see how their own horses react to them. The time and cost of one of you making the journey to meet the other cannot be a deal breaker

I've been involved with Lusos in the UK for 20 years, if you want you could pm me the name of the people interested and I can advise if they are known?

Just re the transport issue - when I bought my girl I had to wait a week and a half for the vetting and although I arrange four subsequent lifts (not having own transport) each person who agreed dropped out after saying they would. I was really upset because I knew it made me look like a timewaster when I'm not - I'd just attempted to hire a box on short notice when the seller offered to deliver. Not saying you should do this OP - just saying if you don't have transport it can be quite difficult to arrange, if other people let you down!

I'd probably go with option 1 if I could, as it sounds like you wouldn't want your girl to be with lady 2 - go with your instincts and if you can give lady 1 a bit of time (within reason!) then that might be best. The only way to really be sure what happens with her though, is to wait and to loan!

You could offer to loan to either person I guess

Lady A may jump at that and its not unusual for brood mares to go on breeding loan

Well seems my darling zepherine is determined not to be sold or loaned, shes now lame!! Bloody horse, perfect one minute, i nipped to make the feed, came back, and shes dog lame!! So bute and box rest. Assuming being locked in dosnt completly finish her off, well if it dosnt then i might! God she truely is a nightmare! Guess i have no choice but to keep her now, such a shame :) i think its fate! As long as vets bills arnt going to be too steep!!
