Selling Eventer..where am I going wrong.. no takers at all

As a mum of a young evener I like the pic of the rider with the legs dangling it tells me the rider trusts the horse. I like to know if it loads and good to handle etc etc because you still have to deal with the horse on a daily basis and get it to the event! Have you tried the pony club site to advertise as it is my first port of call when looking for a new horse for my daughter. Good luck and it is a tough Market.

If you want top money for this horse, you might consider sending him to a top eventing yard for sale, I agree with others, pictures are no good, you need a proper one of him in the classic pose, and jumping some decent size fences, [my pony could jump those logs], and as an eventer he needs to be seen over coloured poles as well.
Check out some other adverts for this type of horse, and see the difference.
If he is a safe conveyance he may do better as a riding club type, less cash but easier sale.

Having looked at his BE record,he is priced way too high in my opinion,to sell as an event horse.

Yes he has jumped clear round one Novice XC but he has not SJ clear at all this season, several rather large scores on his record.

He also has only made the time in two BE 90s last year.

I realise he is young and not wanting to push on hard ground but it does make it look as if he will struggle at the higher levels.PC times are similar to BE and the SJ courses are actually bigger.

I would, as suggested, either drop the price and sell as an allrounder/hunter or send him to a pro rider to get a few decent scores on his record. He is obviously a genuine horse and very honest so the right rider may make the difference to his performance.

Change the ad to ISH as ID x also makes him seem steadier and more of a hunter,if you know what I mean.

Hi there he is lovely.

I personally wouldn't value him at that with the information and photos provided - maybe £6k/£7k.

If you want to get the best price (Everything is for sale at the right price) the pictures need to be better the stood still one- I'd have him bathed and beautiful stood square on a lawn with someone holding him, the jumping ones would be better coming towards the camera and the XC jump looks too small for a £9k horse that 'loves XC'. Some example dressage scores would be good. I'd also say a video is a must with him doing a bit of everything.

He looks like a great horse you just need to 'sell' him better- can you tell I was an estate agent ;o)

Good luck

People will pay a lot of money for two things: top level potential or safety.

I think you have to slant your ad at one of those markets if you want to get good money for him. If he is a nice event horse but needs a competent jockey or if he is a nice event horse but unlikely to get to 3*** or 4**** then the price drops quite drastically. Which doesn't feel fair but it is the state of the market at the moment. :(

Thanks all, the general view is my add is terribble, I take this on board (never done this b4)
I am removing the confusing add on horse and hound, all ive had is scammers contacting me, The price in the add is TOTALY WRONG ..... He is £9k . He is going to a sales livery place this week, Ive given up trying myself, am hopeless at putting pics on an add anyway.
Only decent pics i have are pro ones I have bought at events, and dont have a clue how to scan these to an add..
So fingers crossed and he is off to sales livery wens.
He really is a super horse honest!!!!!!!
